USPS Closed for National Day of Mourning--Wednesday Dec 5th
As a former USPS employee, Whenever there is a death of a President, the post office is closed for that day.
Just giving you a notice to be prepared for this on Wednesday Dec 5th.

USPS has not announced either way but I just texted my carrier and she says they expect s formal announcement Monday at 8 am as to if they will or won’t be closed

Although I have no memory of this, probably because I was young at the time and not paying attention to the mail, but yes, USPS was closed for Reagan on June 11, 1994 for regular mail and retail service. Express mail was operating.

Yes, I anticipate the USPS will close, so presumably Amazon will adjust the Expected Ship Dates on our seller dashboards.

And the post office closed when Ford died too.
It was the only time in history the post office was closed Sunday, Monday (New Year’s Day) and Tuesday (Ford’s day of mourning)

The Post Office may not deliver letters, but I’d be shocked if they completely shut down. My local PO asked me if I wanted a pickup today (Sunday). She said they are doing Sunday pickups for the rest of the year until the 25th. Losing a full day will really jam them up…

Maybe @SEAmod or one of the others can clue us in on Amazon’s plans. We really need to know by Monday night what to do with orders we accept on Tuesday.
They could adjust ship by dates; however, I have a feeling that since UPS and FedEx will presumably be operational that USPS shipping options may just be unavailable for all of Wednesday.
The real question is what happens to shipping metrics for people who have Prime orders in transit that won’t ultimately be delivered Wednesday due to literally no fault of their own.
