Selling my own tea brand

Hello Sellers! I'm not getting the answers I need from opening cases so here I am. I have my own tea brand/company that's registered with a federal ID. I would like to start selling the tea on Amazon and I just want to know if I need my own barcode and Product ID to start. All previous items that I have sold before already existed. Thank you!

GS1 registered UPC codes are always suggested but may not be required depending on your product and what catagory you are selling in. I do think you will need them if you attempt to do brand registry.

Tea is a very difficult thing to sell on amazon. Any claims of health benefits will get it removed and trigger the need for government testing. I would suggest you read the forums very carefully on all the issues people have experienced with that product line.

Hello! Congratulations on starting your own tea brand! When selling products on Amazon, you generally have two options for product identification: using an existing UPC/EAN barcode or obtaining your own unique barcode (UPC/EAN) for your products.

Here's what you need to know:

Using Existing UPC/EAN Barcodes: If your products already have UPC or EAN barcodes (which are typically found on retail packaging), you can use those to list your products on Amazon. However, keep in mind that if you're the manufacturer of these products, it's essential to ensure that the UPCs/EANs are correctly assigned to your products and not already associated with other products on Amazon. This helps prevent issues with product listings and ensures accurate tracking of your inventory.

Obtaining Your Own Barcodes: Alternatively, you can obtain unique UPC or EAN barcodes for your products through GS1 (Global Standards One). GS1 is a global organization that provides unique identification numbers for products. While it's not mandatory to obtain barcodes from GS1, doing so can help ensure uniqueness and compatibility with various retailers, including Amazon. Keep in mind that Amazon may require GTIN exemption if you choose to use barcodes not obtained from GS1.

Product ID: As for the Product ID, Amazon typically requires a unique identifier for each product listing. This can be a UPC, EAN, ISBN (for books), or ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number). If you're listing a new product on Amazon, you'll need to provide a unique Product ID, which could be either the UPC/EAN barcode or the ASIN generated by Amazon if your product is already listed in their catalog.

In summary, if your products already have UPC/EAN barcodes and they are correctly assigned to your products, you can use them to list your products on Amazon. If not, you may consider obtaining unique barcodes for your products, either through GS1 or another legitimate source. Ensure that you accurately enter the Product ID when creating your listings on Amazon to avoid any issues.

If you have further questions or need clarification, feel free to ask! Good luck with your tea brand on Amazon!
