Question About New DD+7 Reserve Settings Starting March 12, 2026
We've been selling on Amazon over 10 years and just received an email from Amazon indicating that funds availability will be held until there is a "Delivered" date + 7 days. The funds won't be available on the shipped date as previously. We are FBM.
The reason this is needed isn't clear since there already is a an automated mechanism in Amazon to hold funds needed for returns with the 'Account Level Reserve' feature - depending upon metrics (we usually have nothing in held reserve because out metrics are good).
So here's the question from Amazon: The email states "After seven days, the funds are moved into your account balance, which can be disbursed automatically through your choice of the automatic settlement cycle or a once daily disburse-on-demand request." -
Does this mean that sellers will get the feature for Daily Disbursements enabled for our account concurrent with DD+7???
Our account is very old, so we are on the standard 14-Day disbursements that were the only option at the time and have never seen the option for daily disbursements pop up even with spotless FBM metrics.

Great question, I was wondering the same thing about the daily disbursements as well. Hopefully we hear from a mod clarifying that detail.

exactly my question. I believe some banks have the option to have the funds released in one day: mine isn’t one of them. If indeed, we can request daily disbursements, I would be okay with the deferred transactions. It would even out for me.

I'm upset about the change, but if they allow daily disbursements, that might be the silver lining.

Does anyone know if Amazon will charge their fees and the shipping costs on the day the item is sold? Then we have to wait until much later to get the money for the item? Or will these costs get deducted at the time we get the money? I am thinking we pay these in advance and then have to wait to get the money.
What if the customer never receives the item???

I have Been proudly selling on here, for 16 years. Over 100,000 orders in that time. This is absolutely ridiculous. You're correct that they put these policies out and give us zero in return for this. Case in point, I just had a customer return 3 very expensive Transformers toys totaling $320, and replaced one with a $15 used Transformer, one with a cup of jello, and one with a jar of peanut butter. They swapped that $320 for a $15 used figure and enough food to make a sandwich. I just lost over $300, 2 days worth of pay. And we aren't even allowed to block crooked customers. Instead of rewarding our decades of service selling on here, with fraud prevention, they instead reward us with policies like "returnless refunds" where customer can simply lie and say a product has a scratch on it and they keep our $50 product, allowing them to steal steal steal and we lose our assets. And they don't even have to prove Something's Wrong by returning the product! Who should the burden of proof be on? A customer with a dozen orders and six returns in a row, or a seller with 8,000 orders a year, and a 100% delivery rate?
On eBay and all the other websites, we get paid immediately when a product ships. If our record shows a 100% delivery rate as ours pretty much does, and a 100% feedback rating as ours pretty much does, and 16 years of selling in good faith, they should not be doing this to us. This will cause a delay in funds. I consider this a massive downgrade to the entire Amazon platform, to NOW, after 16 YEARS of selling on here, have to wait to get paid for $20,000 plus in orders every month.
I literally just had my whatnot account upgraded after just 90 days from dd7 to instant payout! I've been in on here 16 years and Amazon is downgrading the payout system for the entire platform? What's wrong with them? And then we don't even have the security of blocking fraudulent buyers as the one above? I had one customer return the same products 16 consecutive times unopened, and cost me $1,000 in returns and $200 in return fees. I reported them the Amazon 16 times, and nobody did a da*n thing about it until @Sunny_Amazon stepped up on a forum and actually helped me. The people we were reporting this fraud to aren't even doing anything about it. And now our funds are going to be held for up to two weeks. So what about the shipments to Guam or the philippines? Or an apo? Those things get delayed up to 30 freaking days? We won't get paid for a month! Is everybody going to start blocking all their shipments to apos now? Why are you doing this Amazon? Think about the hardships that you're putting sellers through with this policy? Meanwhile, Amazon puts the funds in an interest bearing cap account for 7 days, and makes 5% annual interest on our money. Money that we are literally PAYING interest on until we pay it back! Why are we being punished for good performance?
And why would Amazon say they're doing this policy after hearing our feedback? Who on Earth would ask for their funds to be held for up to 7 days before they're released? NOBODY IN THE HISTORY OF SELLING WOULD ASK FOR THEIR FUNDS TO BE FROZEN FOR 7 DAYS!!!
This sounds like a rookie policy for vetting the first 30 days for a newbie, not for somebody who's been selling on here for 16 years!!!

@Seller_FKDRsutcpl4YS Thanks for your post. My situation mirrors yours, and I feel blindsided by this announcement about DD+7.
If the migration includes the option for a once daily, on-demand disbursement, it might be manageable. If not, this is a downgrade to the selling experience, no matter how Amazon tries to spin it.
This is a significant issue, and Amazon needs to provide answers ASAP.

Too bad we can't be shoppers like this. Go to the grocery store, take all the food home, eat it, and decide 7 days later whether we wanna pay the Grocery Store for it or if we didn't like it and wanna return it.
Rediculous.

My question exactly, lets tag some mods and see if we can get some answers. I know Danny has posted on threads regarding payments before, if there are any others you know of please add to the list. Amazon need an official clear post about this policy.

I would think it's safe to assume you'll be forced into any requirement that is inconvenient and allows amazon to retain more of your money for longer, and you won't be allowed any change that would be better for your business.
