I’ve noticed that 2 and 3 star reviews usually come without any written review whereas 4 and 5 star usually have a number of observations. Usually those 4 and 5 star reviews are verified purchase.

Is there any way to determine if a 2 and 3 star review without comment is a verified purchase ? It would appear that any one, maybe by extension to a competitor for example, can press the 1, 2 or 3 star button without any justification.

It just doesn’t seem right a star rating can be given by absolutely anyone and remain uncontactable.

I have a book listed on Amazon via KDP. All the verified reviews have names and comments and are either 4 or 5 star. There are also 2 x 1 star reviews and one 3 star with no name and no comment, nor verified purchases, which are bringing my rating down. They cannot be real reviews as they appeared too quickly - within a week of publication - for anyone to have received and read the 400 page book, and it is impossible to leave a star review with no name and no comment. I have tried! This must be a hack and they should be removed, or they are left by people irritated by being bombarded by review requests from Amazon?

Hey everyone,I’m encountering a strange issue with my product rating, and I’d appreciate any insights you might have.

My product had 51 reviews with an overall rating of 4.3.I recently received a new 5-star review, bringing the total number of reviews to 52.Strangely, instead of the rating improving or at least staying the same, it actually dropped to 4.2.

I’m really confused about how this is possible. From what I understand, a 5-star review should boost or maintain the rating, not cause a decrease.Has anyone else experienced this before? Could this be due to how the algorithm weighs reviews? I’ve heard that not all reviews are treated equally, but I’m not sure why a positive review would lead to a rating drop.Any thoughts or similar experiences? Should I contact support, or is this just a quirk in the system?Thanks for your help!
