Equestrian helmets

If you list products on our store, you must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and our policies applicable to those products and product listings, including this policy.

Equestrian helmets covered by this policy

An equestrian helmet is defined as protective headgear that is used while engaging in horseback riding or horse sports. Equestrian helmets are also known as “schooling helmets,” “schoolers,” or “riding helmets.”

Children’s equestrian helmets are equestrian helmets that are intended or designed for use by children 12 years of age and younger.

Our policy for equestrian helmets

Amazon requires that all equestrian helmets have been tested to and comply with the specific regulations or standard requirements listed below:

  • ASTM F1163 (Standard Specification for Protective Headgear Used in Horse Sports and Horseback Riding); or
  • Snell E-2001 (Equestrian Helmets)
Equestrian helmets for children’s use
  • CPSIA (Lead); and
  • ASTM F1163 (Standard Specification for Protective Headgear Used in Horse Sports and Horseback Riding); or
  • Snell E-2001 (Equestrian Helmets)

Required information

We may request this information from you at any time, so we recommend that you have it easily accessible:

  • Your company name (if applicable) and seller ID
  • Your contact information: email address and phone number
  • A list of all equestrian helmets that you list
  • For all equestrian helmets (general use and children’s use), please provide images of the product and product packaging, as applicable. Images must include all sides of the product and product packaging to demonstrate that the product is the same as the product listed on the detail page.
  • For all equestrian helmets, please provide evidence of compliance with warning and hazard label requirements, as applicable. Please provide product images of the warning and hazard labels on the product, or a test report that verifies compliance with warning and hazard labeling requirements.
  • Specifically for children’s equestrian helmets, please provide evidence of compliance with mandatory tracking label requirements (CPSA Section 14(a)(5)). Please provide product images that show the tracking label on the product, or a test report that verifies compliance with the tracking label requirement.
  • Any product instructions and manuals for all equestrian helmets that you list
  • Test reports from an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory that confirm that each general-use equestrian helmet that you list was tested to applicable requirements listed above
  • A Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) for all children’s equestrian helmets that you list
  • Test reports from a CPSC-accepted lab confirming that each children’s equestrian helmet that you list was tested to the regulations and standards listed above

How to submit information

If you are contacted by us for compliance documents, complete the following steps to submit the requested information:

  1. In Seller Central, select the Performance tab, and choose Account health.
  2. Under Product compliance requests in the bottom right corner of the page, click Documentation requests.
  3. Click Provide documentation or appeal next to the product.
  4. Select No to upload documents.
  5. Follow the steps in the Submit required documents section.

Note: Test reports must contain images of the tested products that are sufficient to demonstrate that the product tested is the same as the product listed on the detail page.

Policy violations

If you do not provide the required information by the applicable deadline, we may take the following actions:

  • Remove the relevant product listings
  • Suspend your ability to add new products, your listing privileges, or both
  • Withhold any payments due to you

We reserve the right to take any further actions that may be necessary in our sole discretion.
