Sleep positioners are meant to keep babies on their backs to sleep.
Infant cushions have soft fabric coverings and are loosely filled with a granular material such as plastic foam beads or pellets. Infant cushions are easily flattened to create a "nest," so that the infant lies prone on them. Infant cushions are capable of conforming to the face or body of an infant, and are intended or promoted for use by children under one year of age.
Of these product features, the key characteristic that likely contributes most to infant deaths is the ability of the cushions to conform to an infant's face or body.
Infant sleep positioners: mat with bolsters
All "mat with bolsters"-type infant sleep positioning products are prohibited. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has advised that this type of infant sleep positioner not be used, due to risk of suffocation.
Infant pillows and cushions
Infant pillows and infant cushions are not allowed for sale on our store.
