Climbing harnesses

If you list products on our store, you must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and our policies applicable to those products and product listings, including this policy.

Climbing harnesses covered by this policy

This policy includes harnesses whose primary purpose is for use while rock climbing or mountaineering, when the user's feet are not on the ground. A harness is a type of climbing equipment intended to provide safety to the user by securing them to a rope or an anchor point.

Our policy for climbing harnesses

Amazon requires that all climbing harnesses have been tested to and comply with the specific regulation or standard requirements listed below:

  • UIAA 105 (Harnesses, Climbing and Mountaineering Equipment Safety Standard); or
  • EN 12277:2015 (Safety Requirements for Mountaineering Equipment, Harnesses); or
  • ASTM F1772 – 17 (Standard Specification for Harnesses for Rescue and Sport Activities)

Required information

We may request this information from you at any time, so we recommend that you have it easily accessible:

  • Your company name (if applicable) and seller ID
  • Your contact information: email address and phone number
  • A list of all climbing harnesses that you list
  • Images of the product and product packaging, as applicable, for all climbing harnesses that you list. Images must include all sides of the product and product packaging for our review
  • Product images or test report as evidence of compliance with warning and hazard labels, as applicable
  • Any product instructions and manuals for all climbing harnesses that you list
  • If testing to UIAA requirements, test reports must be from a UIAA accredited test laboratory and confirm that each product was tested to applicable requirements listed above
  • If testing to EN or ASTM requirements, test reports must be from an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory and confirm that each product was tested to applicable requirements listed above

How to submit information

If you are contacted by us for compliance documents, complete the following steps to submit the requested information:

  1. In Seller Central, select the Performance tab, and choose Account health.
  2. Under Product compliance requests in the bottom right corner of the page, click Documentation requests.
  3. Click Provide documentation or appeal next to the product.
  4. Select No to upload documents.
  5. Follow the steps in the Submit required documents section.

Note: Test reports must contain images of the tested products that are sufficient to demonstrate that the product tested is the same as the product listed on the detail page.

Policy violations

If you do not provide the required information by the applicable deadline, we may take the following actions:

  • Remove the relevant product listings
  • Suspend your ability to add new products, your listing privileges, or both
  • Withhold any payments due to you

We reserve the right to take any further actions that may be necessary in our sole discretion.
