Effective April 26, 2022, our new required dimension attributes give customers more precise data to help them find and compare products. For example, customers can distinguish between length and depth to filter search results more accurately.
After a 30-day grace period beginning on April 26, 2022, you’re required to enter the new dimension attributes when you create and update ASINs through Manage Inventory and bulk inventory templates.
We urge you to update your product dimensions before the grace period ends and the old attributes are removed. We’ll move existing item dimensions to the new attributes if they’re accurate. You’re required to add values that are missing or may not have been updated due to formatting issues or differing value parameters. These attributes will become mandatory in a phased manner starting in July through September 2022. You will have to enter new attributes for the following 87 product types starting August 26. For integrators, these attributes will become mandatory in 2023 and a 90-day notice will be sent prior to allow time to accommodate for the change.
You’ll be prompted to add missing dimensions when you edit your catalog, such as when you update price or product information. Look for our ongoing reminders to provide any missing values.
The new attribute definitions are clear and specific to product types. For example, CHAIR_MAT has two attributes: length (longer edge) and width (shorter edge). These attributes refer to the dimensions of the product in the manner it would be used. Dimensions of accessories or packages (for example, the case for a MASSAGER) are not to be used while adding information in these attributes.
We’ve also reduced the acceptable values for units of measurement. In the US, dimensions are given in inches only. In all other stores, dimensions are given in centimeters (with a few exceptions). Values must be numeric and greater than zero.
Unit of measurement: US (inches), all other stores (centimeters)
