Baby changing products

If you list products in our store, you must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and our policies applicable to those products and product listings, including this policy.

Baby changing products covered by this policy

Baby changing products covered by this policy include changing tables, changing table accessories, add-on changing units, and contoured changing pads. This policy covers baby changing products sold for domestic use for children up to a weight of 30 lb. Flat, non-contoured changing mats that are typically included with a diaper bag, for example, are not covered under this definition, and, therefore, are not subject to this policy.

Changing tables

A changing table is an elevated freestanding structure, generally designed to support and retain a child with a body weight of up to 30 lb (13.61 kg) in a horizontal position for the purpose of allowing a caregiver to change the child’s diaper. Changing tables may convert from or to other items of furniture, such as a dresser, desk, hutch, bookshelf, play yard, or other furniture, and may provide storage for diapers and diaper products. Changing tables that are used in public facilities, such as public restrooms, are not covered by this policy.

Changing table accessories

A changing table accessory attaches to a crib or play yard and is designed to convert the product into a changing table, typically a rigid frame with soft fabric, mesh side or bottom surface, or both.

Add-on changing units

An add-on changing unit is a rigid addition to an item of furniture, or a separate product used with an item of furniture, that provides barriers to prevent the infant from rolling off the product during a diaper change.

Contoured changing pads

A contoured changing pad is designed for use on an elevated surface that incorporates barriers to prevent a child from rolling off the changing surface.

Our policy for baby changing products

Amazon requires that all baby changing products subject to this policy have been tested to and comply with the specific regulation and standard requirements listed below:

  • CPSA Section 14(a)(5) (Tracking Label); and

  • ASTM F2388 – 18 (Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Baby Changing Products for Domestic Use); or
  • 16 CFR Part 1235 (Requirements for Baby Changing Products)

Required information

We may request this information from you at any time, so we recommend that you have it easily accessible:

  • Your company name (if applicable) and seller ID.
  • Your contact information: email address and phone number.
  • A list of all baby changing products, subject to this policy, that you list.
  • Images of the product and product packaging, as applicable, for all baby changing products, subject to this policy, that you list. Images must include all sides of the product and product packaging for our review.
  • Product images or test report as evidence of compliance with registration card requirement (16 CFR Part 1130).
  • Product images or test report as evidence of compliance with mandatory tracking label requirements (CPSA Section 14(a)(5)).
  • Product images or test report as evidence of compliance with warning and hazard label requirements (ASTM F2388-18 Sec. 9 or 16 CFR Part 1235), as applicable.
  • Any product instructions and manuals for all baby changing products, subject to this policy, that you list.
  • A Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) for all baby changing products, subject to this policy, that you list.
  • Test reports from a CPSC-accepted lab confirming that each product was tested to and meets the regulations and standards listed above

How to submit information

If you receive a request from us for compliance documents, complete the following steps to submit the requested information:

  1. In Seller Central, select the Performance tab and choose Account Health.
  2. Under Manage your compliance in the bottom right corner, click Product Compliance Requests.
  3. To add compliance or appeal for a single product, click Add/Appeal Compliance. To add compliance or appeal for multiple products, select each product on the left hand side of the product and click Action Selected Products at the top of the product requirement table to make a selection about how you would like to submit documents and information.
  4. Provide compliance documents and information in the Provide Documents section, or provide appeal information and documents in the Appeal Request section.
  5. Click Submit for Approval to send your submission for review by Amazon.

Note: Test reports must contain images of the tested products that are sufficient to demonstrate that the product tested is the same as the product listed on the detail page.

Policy violations

If you do not provide the required information by the applicable deadline, we may take the following actions:

  • Remove the relevant product listings
  • Suspend your ability to add new products, listing privileges, or both
  • Withhold any payments due to you

We reserve the right to take any further actions that may be necessary in our sole discretion.
