Product compliance documentation

If you list products on Amazon, you must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and our policies applicable to those products and product listings, including this policy.

If we have asked you to provide compliance documentation, the information below will help you understand what documentation must be submitted.

Our policy for Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)

If Amazon requests a CPC, the certificate you provide must include all of the following information:

  • Description of the product. This description should be specific to the product covered by the CPC.
  • Allchildren’s product safety rules that are applicable to the product
  • Date(s) and place the product was tested for the consumer product safety rule(s) listed in the CPC
  • Name, full mailing address, and telephone number of the importer or U.S. domestic manufacturer certifying the product(s)
  • Name, full mailing address, e-mail address, and telephone number of the person maintaining test records in support of the CPC
  • Date and place where the product was manufactured, specifically:
    • Month and year when the product was manufactured.
    • Country, state (if applicable), city or administrative region where the product was manufactured or finally assembled. If the same manufacturer operates more than one location in the same city, provide the street address of the factory where this product was manufactured.
  • The following information about the third party CPSC-accepted laboratories that tested the product and issued the CPC:
    • Name, full mailing address, and telephone number of the laboratory.*
*Registered small batch manufacturers (SBM) who are not required to third-party test their product to certain children’s product safety requirements, must include the SBM registration number provided by the CPSC. Products manufactured by registered SBM must still comply with applicable children’s product safety rules. Note that certain children’s products must be third-party tested at a CPSC-accepted laboratory, even if manufactured by an SBM. Our policy for General Certificate of Conformity (GCC)

If Amazon requests a GCC, the certificate you provide must include all of the following information:

  • Description of the product. This description should be specific to the product covered by the GCC.
  • All product safety rules that are applicable to the product
  • Date(s) and place the product was tested for the consumer product safety rule(s) listed in the GCC
  • Name, full mailing address, and telephone number of the importer or U.S. domestic manufacturer certifying the product
  • Name, full mailing address, e-mail address, and telephone number of the person maintaining test records in support of the GCC.
  • Date and place where the product was manufactured:
    • Month and year when the product was manufactured
    • Country, state (if applicable), city or administrative region where the product was manufactured or finally assembled. If the same manufacturer operates more than one location in the same city, provide the street address of the factory where the product was manufactured.
  • The following information about the laboratory that tested the product and issued the CPC:
    • Name, full mailing address, and telephone number of the laboratory.
      Note: Third -party laboratory testing is not a requirement for GCCs.
    • If a third-party laboratory was not used for product testing, then this section of the GCC is not applicable and must be marked N/A.
    • If the certifier uses test results from a third party laboratory as the basis for issuing the GCC, then the certifier must provide the name, full mailing address, and telephone number of the third party laboratory.

Our policy for test reports from an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory

If Amazon requests a test report from an ISO 17025 laboratory, the report must include all of the following information:

  • Organization or company name of the requester of the test
  • Proof of compliance to all required sections of the applicable safety standard
  • Age grading, required for children’s products
  • Test report must be in a non-editable format
  • Applicant’s name and full mailing address
  • Manufacturer’s name and full mailing address
  • Product description
  • Product make and model number (if applicable)
    • If the make and model in the test report does not match the make and model in the product listing, for example, the product is rebranded, you may be required to submit an affidavit from the test report applicant confirming that the tested product is identical to the product being listed.
  • Product image matching ASIN design or model, color variations are acceptable

Our policy for Compliance Documentation completed by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL)

In lieu of a Test Report from an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, Amazon will also accept a Certificate of Compliance or Marking Authorization Letter for some product types which are currently certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). All submitted certification documents must include all of the following information:

  • Applicant’s name and full mailing address
  • Manufacturer’s name and full mailing address
  • Product description
  • Product make and model number
    • If the make and model in the test report does not match the make and model in the product listing, for example, the product is rebranded, you may be required to submit an affidavit from the test report applicant confirming that the tested product is identical to the product being listed.
  • Product image (may be separately submitted)
  • Image of the product label(s) showing make and model (may be separately submitted)
  • Applicable product safety standard(s) the product has been certified to
  • Certification documents must be in a non-editable format

Our policy for compliance markings:

If Amazon requests compliance markings for your product, you must provide the following:

  • Proof that all compliance markings are appropriate for the specific product requirements. Product compliance markings vary depending on your product type. Work with your supplier or testing laboratory to familiarize yourself with the relevant compliance markings applicable to your product type. This requirement may be satisfied by providing clear, legible images of the compliance markings. Examples of compliance markings include a tracking label on a children’s product, or FCC compliance marking on electronic products.

Our policy for product instructions and manuals:

If Amazon requests product instructions and manuals, you must provide:

  • Complete copies of the product instructions and manuals, including any additional safety statements, hazard warnings, compliance markings, etc. that may not be present on the product itself.

Our policy for registration cards:

If Amazon requests a registration card for your product, you must provide a registration card that includes all of the following:

  • Name of the manufacturer or private labeler
  • Manufacturer contact information (U.S. address and telephone number, toll-free if available )
  • Date of manufacture
  • Postage-Paid
  • Model name and/or model number

Our policy for tracking labels:

If Amazon requests a tracking label for your product, you must provide a tracking label that includes the following:

  • Name of the manufacturer or private labeler (distributor)
  • Location and date of manufacture
  • Detailed information on the manufacturing process, such as a batch or run number, or other identifying characteristics
  • Any other information to facilitate ascertaining the specific source of the product
