California Energy Commission (CEC)

In California, certain products must meet minimum efficiency requirements determined by the California Energy Commission (CEC). It is your responsibility to determine if products you list on Amazon.com are subject to CEC regulations.

Examples of listings permitted for sale in California

  • Light bulbs and lamps that meet CEC standards and appear in the CEC efficiency database (see Additional Information below).
  • Water fixtures and fittings that meet CEC standards and appear in the CEC efficiency database.
  • Battery charger systems (including devices that incorporate a rechargeable battery and the chargers used with them) that meet CEC standards and appear in the CEC efficiency database.
  • Computer products (including desktop computers, laptops, mobile gaming systems, and computer monitors) that meet CEC standards and appear in the CEC efficiency database.
  • Other appliances that have been reviewed by the CEC and appear in the CEC efficiency database.

Examples of listings prohibited from sale in California

  • Light bulbs, lamps, water fixtures, fittings, battery charger systems, computer products and other appliances covered by CEC regulations that fail to meet California efficiency standards.
