Children's sleepwear

If you list products on our store, you must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and our policies applicable to those products and product listings, including this policy.

Children's sleepwear covered by this policy

Children’s sleepwear size 0 months and up to size 14

Children’s sleepwear includes any article of clothing, such as a nightgown, pajama, robe, or lounge wear, that is intended to be worn primarily for sleeping, or activities related to sleeping, by children ages 12 or younger.

Tight- and snug-fitting sleepwear

“Tight-fitting” or “snug-fitting” sleepwear is made to fit closely against the body.

Our policy for children's sleepwear

Amazon requires that all children’s sleepwear have been tested to and complies with the specific regulation or standard requirements listed below:

Children’s tight- or snug-fitting sleepwear from 0 to 9 months

All of the following:

  • 16 CFR Part 1615 or ASTM D6545 – 18 (Flammability Testing); and
  • CPSIA (Lead, Phthalates); and
  • 16 CFR Part 1611 (Vinyl Film)*; and
  • 16 CFR Part 1501 (Small Parts)**; and
  • CPSA Section 14(a)(5) (Tracking Label) and
  • Hang-tag warning label***

Children’s tight- or snug-fitting sleepwear sized above 9 months and up to size 6X

All of the following:

  • 16 CFR Part 1610 (Flammability Testing); and
  • 16 CFR Part 1615 (Standard for the Flammability of Children’s Sleepwear Sizing/Labeling Requirements); and
  • CPSIA (Lead, Phthalates); and
  • 16 CFR Part 1611 (Vinyl Film)*; and
  • 16 CFR Part 1501 (Small Parts)**; and
  • CPSA Section 14(a)(5) (Tracking Label); and
  • Hang-tag warning label***

Children's tight- or snug-fitting sleepwear sized 7 through 14

All of the following:

  • 16 CFR Part 1610 (Flammability Testing); and
  • 16 CFR Part 1616 (Standard for the Flammability of Children’s Sleepwear, Sizing and Labeling Requirements); and
  • CPSIA (Lead, Phthalates); and
  • 16 CFR Part 1611 (Vinyl Film)*; and
  • CPSA Section 14(a)(5) (Tracking Label); and
  • Hang-tag warning label***

Children’s sleepwear from 0 to 9 months

All of the following:

  • 16 CFR Part 1615 or ASTM D6545 – 18 (Flammability Testing); and
  • CPSIA (Lead, Phthalates); and
  • 16 CFR Part 1611 (Vinyl Film)*; and
  • 16 CFR Part 1501 (Small Parts)**; and
  • CPSA Section 14(a)(5) (Tracking Label)

Children’s sleepwear sized above 9 months and up to size 6X

All of the following:

  • 16 CFR Part 1615 or ASTM D6545 – 18 (Flammability Testing); and
  • CPSIA (Lead, Phthalates); and
  • 16 CFR Part 1611 (Vinyl Film)*; and
  • 16 CFR Part 1501 (Small Parts)**; and
  • CPSA Section 14(a)(5) (Tracking Label)

Children's sleepwear sized 7 through 14

All of the following:

  • 16 CFR Part 1616 or ASTM D6545 – 18 (Flammability Testing); and
  • CPSIA (Lead, Phthalates); and
  • 16 CFR Part 1611 (Vinyl Film)*; and
  • CPSA Section 14(a)(5) (Tracking Label)

* If the product has vinyl film

** If the product has zippers or snaps

*** Tight-fitting garments must also bear a hang-tag warning label that states as follows, “For child’s safety, garment should fit snugly. This garment is not flame resistant. Loose-fitting garment is more likely to catch fire,” per 16 CFR 1615.2(m)(10)(i) and 16 CFR 1616.2(m)(10)(i).

Required information

We may request this information from you at any time so we rec-ommend you have it easily accessible:

  • Your company name (if applicable) and seller ID
  • Your contact information: email address and phone number
  • A list of all children’s sleepwear that you offer on our store
  • Product packaging and label images for all children’s sleepwear that you offer on our store
  • Product images must show all sides of the product packaging
  • Product images or test report as evidence of compliance with mandatory tracking label requirements (CPSIA Section 14(a)(5))
  • Product images or test report as evidence of compliance with warning and hazard labels
  • For tight- or snug-fitting sleepwear only: product image or test report as evidence of compliance with mandatory labeling and hang-tag requirements (16 CFR Part 1615.1 or 1616.2)
  • Test reports from a CPSC-accepted lab confirming that each product was tested to the regulations and standards listed above
  • A Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) for all children's sleepwear, subject to this policy, that you list

How to submit information

If you receive a request from us for compliance documents, complete the following steps to submit the requested information:

  1. In Seller Central, select the Performance tab and choose Account Health.
  2. Under Manage your compliance in the bottom right corner, click Product Compliance Requests.
  3. To add compliance or appeal for a single product, click Add/Appeal Compliance. To add compliance or appeal for multiple products, select each product on the left hand side of the product and click Action Selected Products at the top of the product requirement table to make a selection about how you would like to submit documents and information.
  4. Provide compliance documents and information in the Provide Documents section, or provide appeal information and documents in the Appeal Request section.
  5. Click Submit for Approval to send your submission for review by Amazon.

Note: Test reports must contain images of the tested products that are sufficient to demonstrate that the product tested is the same as the product listed on the detail page.

Policy violations

If you do not provide the required information by the applicable deadline, we may:

  • Remove the relevant product listings
  • Suspend your ability to add new products, your listing privileges, or both
  • Withhold any payments due to you

We reserve the right to take any further actions that may be necessary in our sole discretion.
