While creating an adjustment through the Order Adjustment Feed, you may have received one of the following error messages:
This error occurs when the refund amount you are requesting for a product's item-price or principal or item price tax exceeds the amount that can be refunded. The item-price or principal is the amount the customer paid for a product before shipping and taxes. The item price tax is the amount the customer paid in taxes. Common reasons why your requested refund might be too high include the following:
For example, if a customer pays $20 for a product (not including shipping and taxes), you can refund up to $20 toward the item-price or Principal. If you refund $15 of the item-price or Principal, the customer's item-price or Principal balance is $5. Any future refunds for item-price or Principal could not exceed that $5 balance.
To view the current balance for any component in an order, you can search for the order on the Manage Orders page in Seller Central.
To resolve this error, please resubmit your data with an item-price-adj or Principal amount and/or item price tax that is equal to the total amount of the order.
