A child restraint system is a device designed for use in a motor vehicle to restrain, seat, or position children who weigh 30 kilograms (kg) or less. Child restraint systems are most commonly referred to as ‘car seats’. These are categorized into different types with different applicable standards. Some examples are shown below.
We require sellers to provide documents showing that the product meets all local regulatory requirements. Amazon’s policies require that all child restraint systems sold through the Amazon website meet specified certification standards that we define below.
Resellers must submit an invoice and an image of the product and/or its packaging. Manufacturers must submit an image of the product and/or its packaging.

Amazon reserves the right to take any further actions that are necessary and to make judgements at its sole discretion about whether or not a listing is appropriate.

Handheld infant carriers have a seat back that is intended to be in a reclined position (more than 10° from horizontal). Amazon policy applies to hand-held infant carrier and infant car seat bases, including standalone bases sold without carrier.
Booster seats are either a backless child restraint system or a belt-positioning seat.
Forward-facing child restraint systems position a child to face in the direction of travel of the motor vehicle.
Rear-facing child restraint systems position a child to face in the direction opposite to the normal direction of travel of the motor vehicle.
Travel systems include full-size, stand-alone strollers with a compatible infant car seat that clips into the stroller.
Fabric systems, also known as Fabric Car Seats, are products made of fabric (nylon, cotton, etc.) with straps, clips and padding, intended to restrain a child in a car. These products lack any type of metal or hard plastic frame. They are foldable and lightweight.
At this time, fabric systems are not allowed for sale on Amazon.
Approved sellers will receive an email notification with this information.
