FBA Small and Light

Note: Starting April 2, 2018, fulfillment fees will be based on the sale price of your item. Order handling fees will be $0.80 for items priced $5.00 or less and $1.00 for items priced above $5.00. Pick & Pack fees will be charged at $0.75 a unit. Weight handling fees will be charged at $0.11 an ounce.

FBA Small and Light is a fulfillment solution for fast-moving, small-and-light products priced at $15 or less. Per-unit fulfillment fees are generally lower than comparable standard FBA fulfillment fees.

The program offers free standard shipping (three to five business days) for Prime customers. It also offers free shipping (six to eight business days) with no minimum order requirement for non-Prime customers (who can upgrade to three to five day shipping for $0.99).

Small and Light is subject to the FBA Small and Light Terms and Conditions.

Product eligibility

Only products in new condition that measure 16 x 9 x 4 inches or less, weigh 15 ounces or less, and are priced $15 or less qualify for Small and Light.

Products that do not meet these requirements are not eligible for Small and Light. The product types below also are not eligible:

If you have inventory in standard FBA, you must create a new offer for that ASIN to enroll it in Small and Light. Or you must have fewer than 30 units of the same offer in standard FBA before enrolling in Small and Light.

Product enrollment

Enroll eligible products through the Small and Light product enrollment page. Here are some tips:

  • Make sure that package dimensions and weights have been entered in Seller Central before enrollment.
  • Remove extra spaces before and after your MSKUs to prevent upload errors.
  • Make sure that you have entered MSKUs, not ASINs, into the enrollment file.
  • Save your enrollment/removal template as a tab-delimited text file.
  • Always review your Processing reports for errors (for Professional selling plans only).

For help creating new MSKUs for Small and Light, download our offer creation guide. For more information about product enrollment, download our enrollment guide.

Shipping Small and Light inventory to Amazon

FBA Small and Light has its own prep-and-packing requirements and uses specific fulfillment centers. See our prep-and-packing requirements and ship your products to the fulfillment center specified by Amazon. A minimum of 24 units per ASIN must be sent in each shipment.

If you have a China-based vendor, manufacturer, or warehouse partner, you can download a Chinese version of the prep-and-packing guide.

Program fees

Note: Some Small and Light products priced $5 or under and belonging to the Consumables category (i.e. Beauty, Health & Personal Care, Grocery, Baby – excluding Apparel) may be eligible for a 5% price discount if the customer orders two or more units of the same item. FBA covers the cost of the discount – it won't change what you're paid for your items and the discount won't appear on your payment reports. No action is required by you to participate in the promotion.

Except for the fees below, all standard Selling on Amazon fees and FBA fees apply to Small and Light.

Starting August 15, 2018, the minimum long-term storage fees for Small and Light items will be $0.25 per unit for units that have been in the US fulfillment centers for 181 to 365 days. In FBA, Amazon uses standardized packaging weights of 2 oz for standard-size media packages and 4 oz for standard-size non-media packages.

  2. What happens if the price of one of my FBA Small and Light enrolled products increases above $15?

The product will remain enrolled in FBA Small and Light, but standard FBA fulfilment fees will apply. If the price of your product later drops to $15 or lower, FBA Small and Light fulfillment fees will apply again.

  3. How do I disenroll offers from Small and Light?

Before disenrolling offers, make sure there is no inventory left in Small and Light. Go to Remove products from the Small and Light program to disenroll your offers.

For details on how to remove inventory, see Remove inventory from a fulfillment center.

  4. How are Small and Light offers shown to customers?

The Prime badge will be visible in search results for all customers. Product detail pages will show FREE Shipping without the Prime badge.

  5. Why do I see a promotional discount for my offers if I didn’t offer one?

Some Small and Light products priced $5 or under and belonging to the Consumables category (i.e. Beauty, Health & Personal Care, Grocery, Baby – excluding Apparel) may be eligible for a 5% price discount if the customer orders two or more units of the same item. FBA covers the cost of the discount – it won't change what you're paid for your items. No action is required by you to participate in the promotion.

  6. Can I offer a product in both FBA Small and Light and the standard FBA program?

Yes. You can have an FBA Small and Light offer and an offer in the standard FBA program on the same product. If you want to have offers in both programs, note that fulfillment through FBA Small and Light and through standard FBA require different processes. For instructions on creating offers in both programs, please see our Creating offers in both FBA Small and Light and standard FBA.

  7. Can I offer a product through FBA Small and Light and also fulfill it myself?

Yes. You can have an FBA Small and Light offer and a seller-fulfilled offer on the same product.

  8. Can I use my existing MSKU when shipping FBA Small and Light units to a fulfillment center?

To use an MSKU for Small and Light, you must have an MSKU that is based on an offer in FBA. If you have an existing seller-fulfilled offer, you can enroll the offer in Small and Light and then convert the offer to FBA. Note that you should enroll your seller-fulfilled offer in Small and Light before converting the offer to FBA in order to avoid errors.

If you want both Small and Light and seller-fulfilled offers, we recommend creating a separate offer for each so that you have two MSKUs: one for Small and Light and one seller-fulfilled. When creating a new offer, start with a seller-fulfilled offer, enroll the MSKU in Small and Light, and then convert the offer to standard FBA. Update or create multiple offers at once using the Inventory Loader tool.

  9. Are my existing FBA offers that use manufacturer barcodes for tracking, eligible for enrollment?

If you have offers that use manufacturer barcodes for tracking, create a new seller-fulfilled MSKU and enroll the MSKU into Small and Light using the enrollment page. For help creating a new offer, download our step-by-step guide. Once the MSKU is enrolled, our system will automatically convert your MSKU into a Small and Light offer. Each unit must have a scannable barcode (UPC/EAN/FNSKU) or be individually stickered (if no barcode is available or if the barcode applies to more than one product).

  10. Are expiration-dated products allowed in Small and Light?

Yes, Small and Light accepts expiration-dated products, but temperature-sensitive products (like chocolates) are not accepted. Small and Light follows the standard FBA requirements for expiration-dated inventory.

Products sent to Amazon must have a remaining shelf life greater than 105 days from the time of receipt by Amazon. Units that are within 50 days of the expiration date will be removed for disposal by Amazon. Units subject to disposal will not be available for return.

When shipping expiration-dated products to Amazon, make sure that each box has only one expiration date per product. Multiple units of the same product can be shipped together if all units have the same expiration date and are bagged or bundled together.

  11. How do I remove my Small and Light inventory from Amazon’s fulfillment centers?

You can create a removal order in Seller Central to remove your Small and Light inventory, just as you would for standard FBA inventory. Small and Light has a minimum removal fee of $0.25 a unit, compared to standard FBA, which is $0.50/unit. Normally, removals (returns and disposals) can take 10 to 14 business days to pick, pack, and process. However, removal times may increase to 30 days or more during peak removal periods, which occur in February, March, August, and September. For more information, visit Remove inventory from a fulfillment center.

  12. When will I get paid for my sales?

Sales for Small and Light items are treated just like standard FBA sales, and proceeds will be distributed at the same frequency. For more information, go to Getting Paid FAQ.

  13. Can I use Small and Light for products that I sell on channels other than Amazon?

No. Small and Light can be used only to fulfill Amazon orders.

  14. What reports are available to track my inventory and sales?

For sales and inventory data, consult FBA reports such as the Amazon-Fulfilled Shipments and Inventory reports. To find them, go to Amazon Fulfillment Reports in Seller Central.

  15. What about customer service for my orders in Small and Light?

We will provide fulfillment and customer service for your orders, which includes returnless refunds for customers.

  16. Are gift wrap and gift messages available for Small and Light offers?

No. For Small and Light, we do not provide gift wrap and gift message services, and a “Gift options not available” message will be shown on the checkout pages. The gift wrap and gift message options will be automatically disabled when you create a Small and Light offer.

Note: If you dis-enroll a Small and Light offer and convert it to a standard FBA or seller-fulfilled offer, the gift wrap and gift message options will be reset to default.

  17. Is shipment tracking available for Small and Light customer orders?

Shipment tracking is currently available for all Small and Light Prime customer orders. Shipment tracking may not be available for certain non-Prime orders.

  18. Is there a way to set up restock notifications for my Small and Light inventory?

Yes. You can set inventory replenishment alerts for your Small and Light inventory. For more information, see our replenishment alerts guide.

  19. How do I get the best results with Small and Light?

    • Enroll products that you self-fulfill.
    • Ensure that you are priced competitively.
    • Use replenishment alerts to avoid lost sales from going out of stock.

  20. Does the program offer customer returns?

Small and Light does not allow customers to return items. However, customers can request a return-less refund by contacting Customer Service. When Amazon refunds a customer for a Small and Light order, we debit the seller’s account for all or part of the value of the refund. Because the refund is return-less, the seller doesn’t get the item back. For more information, visit FBA customer returns policy.

  21. Is Small and Light part of the Add-on program?

No. Small and Light offers free shipping with no minimum purchase requirement.

  22. Why do I get a CCR --" your account is not eligible" -- error when I try to enroll?

If you get a counterfeit complaint rate (CCR) error, your account is not eligible for Small and Light because of recent customer complaints, listing problems, or both. You can reapply to Small and Light after continuing to make sales without these issues. To appeal these restrictions, go to Appeal the restriction or removal of selling privileges.

  23. I enrolled in the FBA Onsite program and want to enroll an offer into the FBA Small and Light program. Even though I have no existing inventory for this offer, I see the following error: “There are 50,000 units of existing inventory for this offer” when I try to enroll in FBA Small and Light. What should I do?

If you are enrolled in the Onsite program, you can't enroll an FBA offer into the Small and Light program. Instead, create a new seller-fulfilled MSKU and enroll the MSKU into Small and Light using the enrollment page. For help creating a new offer, download our step-by-step guide.

  24. What does the FBA Small and Light option do in the Convert to FBA page?

If you select your Fulfillment Program to FBA Small and Light, your offer (MSKU) will be enrolled to be fulfilled by the FBA Small and Light Program.

  25. Can I disenroll items from Small and Light through the Convert to FBA page?

No. To disenroll items, go to Remove products from the Small and Light program once there is no inventory left.

  26. Is there different eligibility criteria for enrollment into Small and Light vs. the bulk file upload tool?

    No.
