Restock Inventory

The Restock Inventory tool provides recommendations on products to restock, suggested order quantities, and reorder dates. It helps you keep track of your inventory and your supplier orders so you can maximize sales by meeting product demand. You can further customize your recommendations by providing supplier information such as order lead time and case pack quantities.

How does Amazon generate restock recommendations?

Inventory management recommendations and related estimates (e.g., estimated days of supply) are based on a variety of factors, which may include your sales history, seasonality and the product’s historical selling prices and sales volume. The relevance of these recommendations can be improved when you enter additional details regarding your business, which may include the lead time your supplier requires for new purchase orders, reorder frequency, and minimum order quantities.

The Restock Inventory tool is intended to provide you with information to help manage your inventory levels, but the usage of this tool is not a substitute for your own judgment about demand for your products. Many factors may influence the actual demand for your products, including price fluctuations, consumer demand shifts, and changes in competing offers for those products. Recommendations are not a guarantee of future results, and sellers remain responsible for determining their prices and inventory levels.

Why is a restock recommendation not available for one of my products?

We’re always working to expand the number of products for which we have recommendations, but some products are not yet eligible for inclusion. We also currently only provide recommendations on your Fulfillment by Amazon inventory.

How do I adjust my restock settings?

You can fine-tune your restock recommendations by adjusting product-level inputs such as supplier lead time and reorder frequency. To update these settings, click View details for a product to be taken to the SKU Details page. You can also configure your settings in bulk by clicking the Product settings button.

On the SKU Details page, why is an alert sometimes displayed at the bottom of the page?

This will alert you to certain conditions that may affect the relevance of your recommendations, such as:

This product has limited sales history.

This alert indicates that the product has less than one year of sales history. For products without sufficient sales history or other important information, restock recommendations and related estimates may be based on your historical sales for that product. They may not take into account factors like seasonality.

You do not have the lowest-price offer.

This alert displays when there are multiple sellers with offers on a given product and you do not have the current lowest offering price.

How can I provide feedback about the recommendations or the Restock Inventory feature?

We welcome your feedback to help us improve our inventory management tools.

If you think there may be an opportunity for improvement, please provide us with feedback by rating the recommendation using the Tell us how we are doing link on the Restock Inventory pages.

I'd prefer to keep my supplier’s name private. Do I have to enter the supplier’s name?

No. You can enter a nickname or code to represent your suppliers. Doing this will not change the quality of your restock recommendations.

How do I flag ASINs as not replenishable?

You can indicate that a SKU is not replenishable on the Restock Inventory page by clicking View details in the Action column and selecting Hide recommendation. Hiding all SKUs associated with an ASIN will exclude the ASIN from your FBA in-stock rate and estimated FBA lost sales.

Note that hiding replenishable SKUs is not an effective way to increase your Inventory Performance Index (IPI) score for the following reasons:

  • Hiding SKUs does not directly change your IPI score.
  • The SKUs you hide will no longer display restock recommendations.
  • Inaccurate FBA inventory settings may cause you to miss valuable restock opportunities.

Glossary of Terms

Estimated days of supply: The estimated number of days your current inventory supply will last based on the projected demand for your product.

Estimated order amount: The estimated cost for restocking a particular product from your supplier, which is calculated by multiplying your recommended order quantity with your cost of purchase.

Low stock: This alert identifies items where the days of supply is less than lead time, which indicates that orders from your supplier may need to be expedited in order to avoid going out of stock.

Out of stock: This alert is shown for items that are no longer in inventory.

Recommended order date: The suggested date to reorder the product from your supplier to avoid a low or out of stock scenario, based on your estimated days of supply and lead time.

Recommended order quantity: The recommendation for the number of units that should be purchased from your supplier.

Restock inputs: Enter values in these fields to fine-tune your recommendations to your business:

  • Cost of purchase: The per unit cost you pay to order the specified product from your supplier.
  • Reorder frequency: The frequency at which you typically reorder the specified product from your supplier.
  • Supplier lead time: The amount of time needed for your supplier to deliver a product to your facility.
  • Case pack quantity: Also known as order multiple, this is the number of sellable units per case/carton ordered from your supplier.
  • Minimum order quantity: The minimum number of units your supplier will allow you to order.

Sales (last 30 days): The value for the total sales of this SKU in the last 30 days.
