Send inventory to Amazon

Note: Once your inventory is received at a fulfillment center or receive center, it is available for sale. In the Shipping Queue, you can track your shipment as its status moves from In-Transit to Delivered, Checked-In, Receiving, and Closed. Options for creating a shipment include the following:

Inventory sent to Amazon fulfillment centers must meet certain requirements for labeling, packaging, and shipping. Adhering to these requirements will help you avoid delays, unplanned service fees, and penalties.

  • Packaging and prep requirements: Learn about the general preparation requirements for sending inventory to fulfillment centers and the product categories that require specialized prep.
  • Use an Amazon barcode to track inventory: Each unit you send to a fulfillment center requires a barcode so it can be tracked throughout the fulfillment process. Products that don’t use a manufacturer barcode for tracking require an Amazon barcode.

For a quick introduction to the shipment creation process, watch the Seller University video series beginning with How FBA works.

Note: By default, when you create a shipping plan, your shipment may be divided into multiple shipments, each directed to a different fulfillment center. The fulfillment centers are selected based on the products you're shipping and where you're shipping them from. By having your inventory spread across multiple fulfillment centers across the country, customers who buy your product may receive it faster than they would if your inventory was located farther away.
