Apparel size standards

Standardization of apparel sizes is part of a larger initiative to improve the overall shopping experience through ingestion of consistent and accurate data. In 2020 (2H20), Amazon is introducing a new set of attributes specific to apparel sizes that will be used to display standardized and consistent size values to on-site customers.

We highly encourage all sellers to begin adopting the new standards and to proactively update apparel sizes that do not conform to future requirements. Additionally, we recommend that sellers spend time reviewing the standards outlined below and the Frequently Asked Questions.

To ensure your apparel sizes display properly on the website, you need to include the following information for each apparel size you submit.

The following tables provide detail about the compliant size values for apparel products.

Important: Syntax and letter case must be exactly as described in the examples below.

Apparel sizes

Size Type	Description	Example of Compliant Sizes
Numeric	Only numeric values without locale suffix are allowed.	30, 32, 40
Numeric Range	Numeric value ranges specify from and to range value for the size. Range values are displayed with a hyphen and without spaces.	6-8, 10-12, 30-31
Alpha	Alphabetical representation of size values. Examples of non-compliant sizes for US: S, M, XXXX-Large	1X, 2X, 3X X-Large, XX-Large, 3X-Large Small, Medium, Large
Alpha Range	Both from and to range values for alphabetical sizes must be in the same format. Range values are displayed with a hyphen and without spaces. Examples of non-compliant sizes for US: S - Large	Small-Medium, Large-X-Large, 1X-2X
Age	Age type size values are supported for kids, toddlers, and infants. Age values for years one to five are represented as 1T to 5T, whereas age values greater than five years are represented as 6 Years, 7 Years, and so on.	Newborn, 3 Months 1T, 2T, 3T 6 Years, 6X, 7 Years, 7X 8 Years, 9 Years
Age Range	Both from and to sizes for age ranges must be in the same format. The suffix of Months, T, or Years is applied only once at the end of the range. Range values are displayed with a hyphen and without spaces.	0-3 Months, 1-3T, 5-6X 6-7 Years, 8-10 Years
Body Type Suffixes	Additional body type suffixes can be provided with alpha and numeric sizes and related ranges. Append the suffix to the size with a space in between. Valid Body Types suffixes for US are limited to: Slim, Husky, Regular, Plus, Big	5 Big, 14-16 Plus X-Small Plus, 6X-Large Big, X-Large-XX-Large Husky
Height Type Suffixes	Additional height type suffixes can be provided with alpha and numeric sizes and related ranges. Append the suffix to the size with a space in between. Valid Height Type suffixes for US are limited to: Petite, Short, Regular, Tall, Extra Tall, Long, Extra Long	20 Short, 23 Petite, 6-7 Tall 1X Petite, Medium Tall, X-Small-Small Extra Tall
Body & Height Type Suffixes	Both body and height type suffixes can be provided in conjunction and are each represented with spaces in between.	52 Big Tall, 6-7 Plus Short 6X-Small Big Tall, Large-X-Large Big Tall

Neck & Sleeve	Sleeve sizing is supported in addition to Neck size values for representing Shirt sizes. Waist	Products with bottoms like Pants, Shorts, and Skirt etc. can be represented using Waist size values. Valid values for Waist are numeric size representation followed by valid Height Type suffixes.	31 Short, 31 Regular, 31 Long, 31 Extra Long, 31 Tall
Waist & Inseam	Inseam sizes can be added in combination with Waist or alpha sizes. Valid Waist & Inseam representation format is: (waist_value)W x (inseam_value)L	48W x 24L, 48W x 25L
Cup Band	Product types requiring cup or band sizes can be represented by cup size, band size, or both cup band sizes. Valid format is band size followed by cup size without spaces. Body Type & Height Type suffixes do not apply to Cup Band size types.	28, 30 A, B, DDD 32A, 34D, 34DDD
Cup Band Ranges	Cup and band sizes can also be represented as range values for cup, band, or both. Band value ranges are separated by a hyphen; cup value ranges are separated by a forward slash (/), without spaces.	28-32, 28J/JJ J/JJ, 28-32J/JJ
