Create a new listing that uses virtual tracking

This page provides instructions on how to create a new listing that uses virtual tracking, which relies on the manufacturer barcode. If you want to make changes to existing product listings, visit How to switch from using Amazon barcodes to manufacturer barcodes.

By default, your seller account is set to use the manufacturer barcode to track your eligible inventory throughout the Amazon fulfillment process. You can change barcode settings for any new shipment that you create and inventory not yet received at Amazon fulfillment centers.

When using manufacturer barcodes, products must meet eligibility requirements listed on Using FBA virtual tracking. In addition, for products that are approved by the Amazon Brand Registry, ASINs must be linked to a parent brand using a global category owner identification number. Create a new listing for eligible products

In order to create a new listing that uses the manufacturer barcode, you must first create a Fulfillment by Amazon listing. If you are a new seller, visit Create and manage inventory for detailed guidelines.

From the Inventory drop-down menu on Seller Central, select Manage FBA Inventory.

Click Add a product.

Search for your product by name, UPC, EAN, ISBN, or ASIN in the field below "Find your products in Amazon's catalog."

If your product is returned in the search results, select New from the Select a condition drop-down menu on the right.
Note: If you cannot find your product in the Amazon catalog, click Create a new listing and follow the information prompts.

Click Sell this product.

Enter your price, a new Seller SKU, and select New from the Condition drop-down menu. In the Fulfillment Channel section, select "Amazon will ship and provide customer service (Fulfilled by Amazon)."

Select your desired shipping speed in Shipping Options.

Click Save and finish.

On the Choose Barcode Type page, select Manufacturer Barcode from the drop-down menu. Click Save & Continue.
Note: If Manufacturer Barcode is not available from the drop-down menu, the product may be ineligible for virtual tracking. For more information, refer to the product eligibility requirements on the Using FBA virtual tracking.

On the Convert to Fulfilled by Amazon page, complete Add dangerous goods information and click Save & Continue.
Note: If you were unable to select Manufacturer Barcode in step 9, your product may be ineligible for virtual tracking. To confirm, continue to your shipping plan. A notification on the Set Quantity page will show which offers qualify for the manufacturer barcode.

Click Convert & Send Inventory, and continue with your shipping plan.
