Create a Social Media Promo Code

You can create social media promo codes to offer a percentage discount to customers on eligible products and share it with them through social media and influencer marketing content. Create more targeted promotions using this promotion type. This will allow you to control how it's marketed and how customers redeem these offers.

Once you create a social media promo code, you will receive a URL for each promotion with a unique marketing page that displays eligible products and their promotion details.

The marketing page exclusively features your offers. To promote sales for your products, share this URL on social media so customers can use the same to redeem offers on Amazon. Customers can directly add products to their cart from the marketing page and a discount will be automatically applicable at checkout. Customers can also apply the promo code at checkout for eligible products in the cart.

Note: Ensure you preview the page prior to the start of the promotion. Do not share the link to the offer until it is active. Customers can only redeem discounts from this page when the promotion is active. Once the promotion ends, the message on the page will change and customers will no longer receive discounts. However, they can continue viewing your products through the same link.

Social media promo codes start four hours after they are created and can run for up to 30 days. You can customize the claim code to feature your brand name, product type, sponsored influencers, or upcoming events. Claim codes must be 8 to 12 alphanumeric characters in length including the numeric prefix.

The discount must not exceed 80% and must not be lesser than 5% on the current price. You can allow customers to redeem the discount on one unit of an eligible product or multiple units and in one checkout or multiple checkouts using the "Redemptions per customer" feature.

This type of promotional offer is not merchandised on Amazon’s deals page or product detail pages. As suggested, you can directly share your promotion with customers via the URL on social media or a promo code.

To create and share a social promo code, follow these steps:

  1. In Seller Central, go to Advertising > Promotions > Create a promotion > Social Media Promo Code.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Once the promotion has started, preview the marketing page URL.
  4. You can now share this URL with customers on social media or your marketing channel of choice. As a best practice, add a disclosure such as "limited time only" or "while supplies last" to notify customers of the limitations associated with the deal.

You can now download sales reports per promo code. Go to Advertising > Promotions > Manage Your Promotions. Click view against your desired promotion and click Download report.The report may take up to seven calendar days to become available after the promotion is active.
