Use Manage Inventory

Manage Inventory provides you with tools for searching, viewing, and updating your product and inventory listing information. For an overview of inventory management on Amazon.com, see Understanding Promotions.

View Inventory

To view your inventory, go to the Inventory link and select Manage Inventory.

To better help you distinguish your inventory at a glance, we display extra information in the Product Name field for some categories.

Setting Your Preferences

To customize your page view, click the Preferences button at the top of the Manage Inventory page.

You can personalize your page view in the following ways:

  • Show # results per page: Select from drop-down menu how many results you want to see on each page in Manage Inventory.
  • Initially sort by: Select your default sort order from the drop-down menu.
  • Column display: Select which columns to show or hide, or choose the system defaults. The values you select here are used together with search filters to customize the listing table's column display.

Sorting

To sort your inventory, click any underlined (linked) column header.

To filter your inventory, use the options in the left-hand pane under Show My Inventory:

  • All My Inventory: All listings, regardless of status
  • Active: All open listings
  • Inactive: All listings that are either out of stock, set to "inactive," have a quantity of zero, closed due to a pending order, closed at your request, or blocked by Amazon

Copying a Listing

The "Copy to a new product" feature allows you to create a new product detail page using information from an existing listing.

For example, you may have three wines. Each version has a different vintage and UPC, but otherwise shares varietal, appellation, and AVA. You can create a product page for one version of the wine, and then use the "Copy to a new product" feature to quickly create new pages for the other two.

Item 1 Item 2 Item 3
Title Winery X Merlot Winery X Syrah Winery X Pinot Noir
Manufacturer Winery X Winery X Winery X
Brand Winery X Winery X Winery X
General Description Merlot Wine Syrah Wine Pinot Noir Wine
Audience Adults Adults Adults

To copy a listing, follow these steps:

  1. On the Manage Inventory page, locate the product that you would like to copy.
  2. Click the Actions link next to the product you want to copy.
  3. Select Copy to a new product from the drop-down menu.
The template will be populated with the product attributes from the original listing except for its SKU, UPC, and EAN.
  4. Enter the unique SKU, UPC, and/or EAN and any other attributes specific to the listing you are creating.
  5. Select the Apply EAN or UPC Exemption check box.
  6. Click Save and finish.

Editing a Listing

In most cases, changes you make to product information appear on Amazon.com within 5 minutes. However, some updates can take up to 6 hours. Product descriptions longer than 500 characters are generally updated after 8 a.m. PT the following day. Images may take up to 24 hours to appear on a product detail page.

To edit details for an existing listing, follow these steps:

  1. In Manage Inventory, under Show My Inventory in the left-hand navigation, select Active.
  2. Find the listing you want to edit, and click the Actions link next to that item.
  3. Select Edit details.
  4. Click the links at the top of the page to add, edit, or change the listing's contents.
  5. Click Save and finish.

To edit a listing's condition type, follow these steps:

  1. In Manage Inventory, under Show My Inventory in the left-hand navigation, select Active.
  2. Find the listing you want to edit, and click the Actions link next to that item.
  3. Select Add another condition.
  4. Add your new condition information.
  5. Click Save and finish.

To edit price and quantity information, follow these steps:

  1. In Manage Inventory, under Show My Inventory in the left-hand navigation, select Active.
  2. In the Your Price and Quantity columns, type your updates directly into the text boxes.
  3. Click Save at the top of the page.

Setting Your Price

The following column in Manage Inventory applies to pricing:

Your Price: The item price. "Shipping" is the lowest shipping charge available for the item, based on your shipping settings.

  • When you sort by this column, the shipping charge is not taken into account.
  • If your listing has an active sales event, the Your Price field will have a dark green border. If you mouse over the cell, a pop-up window will show your sale price.
  • The shipping charge is displayed in Your Price for active listings only.

Adding Images

You can provide one main image and one supplemental image for each listing. To learn about using product images in your listings, see Adding Product Images.

To upload product images, follow these steps:

  1. In Manage Inventory, find the listing for which you want to add an image.
  2. Click the Actions link next to the product you want to edit.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Manage product images.
  4. In an image slot, click the Browse File button. (You can select an empty slot or replace an existing image.)
  5. Select an image to upload, and click Open.
The image file name will appear in the lower left corner of the image slot.
  6. Click Upload image(s) to upload your selected images.

You can repeat steps 4 and 5 as many times as there are image slots before clicking Upload image(s) (step 6). Images may take up to 24 hours to appear on a product detail page.

Adding Professional Ratings for Wines

If your wines have professional ratings from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Wine Enthusiast, or Wine Spectator, you can easily add these scores.

To add professional ratings:

  1. On the Manage Inventory page, locate the listing for which you want to add a professional rating.
  2. Click the Actions button next to the product you want to edit.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Edit details.
  4. On the More Details tab, do the following:
    • For the Rating Source, select Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, or Wine Advocate.
    • For the Rating Score, enter the point score for your wine.
Important: The score from Wine Spectator should be added to the first row, the score from Wine Enthusiast should be added to the second row, and the score from Wine Advocate should be added to the third row. If two scores have the same value, add a decimal point and 0 to one of the entries (for example, 93.0).
  5. Click Save and finish.

Closing a Listing

You may close a listing at any time, up until the time it is purchased. This action does not remove the record from your inventory. The SKU and all listing information for the item are retained. Additionally, a listing can be relisted (or reactivated) at any time. There is no fee associated with closing a listing.

To close a listing, follow these steps:

  1. In Manage Inventory, under Show My Inventory in the left-hand navigation, select Active.
  2. Find the listing you want to close, and click the Actions link next to it.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Close listing.

Your listing should appear as Inactive within 24 hours.

Note: This will automatically close your listing, without confirmation.

To relist a closed listing, follow these steps:

  1. In Manage Inventory, under Show My Inventory, in the left-hand navigation, select Inactive.
  2. Find the listing you want to relist (or reactivate), and click the Actions link next to it.
  3. Select Relist from the drop-down menu.

Deleting a Product

When you delete a listing, the SKU and all sales history and product information are permanently removed from your seller account. Therefore, you should delete a SKU and its listing information only if you are never going to sell that item in the future.

Note: After you delete a SKU from your inventory, it may take up to 24 hours before that SKU is available for reuse.

To delete listings, follow these steps:

  1. In Manage Inventory, find the listing you want to delete:
    • For single listings, click the Actions link next to the product you want to delete.
    • For multiple listings, check the box to the left the listings you want to delete and click the Actions button at the top of the page.
  2. Select Delete product and listing from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click OK to delete or Cancel to not delete the listing.

Blocked Listings

Listings may be blocked by Amazon for a number of reasons, including for restricted or recalled products.

A blocked listing has one of the following indicators in the far left column:

  • Red icon: This product may not be relisted.
  • Yellow icon: Product may be relisted.

Click the link next to the icon to learn about and correct any problems with the listing.
