Make your products eligible for Lightning Deals

To be eligible for Lightning Deals, you must be a Professional Seller with at least 5 Seller Feedback Ratings per month and an overall rating of at least 3.5-stars. Additionally, products must meet these criteria:

  • Have a sales history and at least a 3-star rating on Amazon
  • Include as many variations as possible
  • Not a restricted product or offensive, embarrassing or inappropriate product
  • Prime eligible in all states, including Puerto Rico
  • New Condition

If you meet the criteria for a Lightning Deal:

  1. In the Lightning Deals Dashboard, go to the Create tab.
  2. Choose an item in your inventory and click Edit.
  3. Enter the Schedule, Maximum deal price, and Minimum deal quantity.
  4. Click Submit.

A Lightning Deal is a time-bound, promotional offer where an item is featured for a limited number of hours, usually 4 to 12 hours (as determined by Amazon), on the Amazon Deals page. Featuring an item as a Lightning Deal may help increase sales and reduce your inventory. Learn how to use Lightning Deals to help improve your brand awareness and sales.

How can I become eligible?

Currently, only Professional Sellers are eligible to run Lightning Deals. Here's how you can upgrade.

Which products are eligible for Lightning Deals?

Eligible products are automatically displayed in the Eligible ASINs section of the Lightning Deals Dashboard when they meet the following criteria:

  • Quality: Products must have a sales history on Amazon and at least a 3-star rating, although this can change by marketplace and the time of year.
  • Product variations: Deals should include as many product variations (e.g. size, color, style etc.) as possible. For some products, such as clothing and shoes, at least 65% of variations should be included in the deal, although this can change by marketplace and time of year. The pre-determined minimum percentage of product variations are specified when you create the deal.
  • Category: Restricted products and products that are offensive, embarrassing or otherwise inappropriate are not eligible. Examples of ineligible items include e-cigarettes, alcohol, adult products, medical devices, medicines and baby formula
  • Fulfillment method: Products must be Prime-eligible in all states including Puerto Rico. You can choose either Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) or Seller Fulfilled Prime in Shipping Settings.
  • Condition: Only items in New Condition are eligible for Lightning Deals.
  • Seller Feedback Rating: You must receive a minimum of 5 ratings per month and have at least an overall 3.5-star rating, although this can change by marketplace and the time of year.
Note: Because of other criteria that Amazon is unable to disclose, it's possible that certain ASINs may not receive a recommendation although they meet the criteria listed above.

You can choose to Create a Lightning Deal from the list of eligible ASINs in the Create tab of the Lightning Deals Dashboard. Eligible ASINs are refreshed every week, so a deal you see this week may not necessarily be there next week.
