Hello, Just thought I would pass this information on…Michigan’s Eastern USPS shipping district is experiencing huge delays. I spoke to our local post master as we have a priority mail package which is still not delivered after a 7 day delay. Our post master said that she is receiving a huge number of complaints about packages not moving thru the system properly and with lots and lots of packages only showing the initial acceptance scan by the post office.
Jersey City experiencing the same thing, though I didn’t talk to my postmaster about it (not that he could help as we’re in Connecticut).
Out of 60ish packages sent in the last week, 2 have gotten scans in NJ since then, which is a normal stop here.
Package last scan Nov 24 arrival in Indianapolis. No departure scan. No response to trace.
They backed up a lot over the weekend. Stuff that should have been picked up Sat. stayed in the local branch until Mon morn. So its already 2 days late getting to the Distribution Center where there are further delays. 2-day priority mail will take 5-6 days, and it will be getting worse.
Currently the Allen Park, Mi. distribution hub had trucks waiting for one or two days to get to the dock to start unloading.
After unloading is when sorting starts to happen.
Seriously hit by Covid-19 at this time.
Huge delays in the Chicago area as well. Packages have not moved for 2 weeks.
Everything I mailed November 26th has arrived.
Everything after that the tracking says it’s sitting in the Chicago USPS processing plant.
About 25 plus packages. A few of the tracking numbers read a message about Covid.
I’m not panicking just yet but I doubt anything mailed after Dec 1st that has to go through Chicago isn’t going to make it for Christmas.

I have packages going from the southwest to PA and DE still showing “In Transit to next” status after 17 to 27 days. Dealing with customer inquiries over and over.
I’d be surprised if there were any USPS distribution centers not experiencing substantial delays. My USPS contact indicated our two main distribution centers are 7-10 days behind schedule. This is good news for our Chinese competitors and not so good for us domestic manufacturers that ship our own product.
We are experiencing the same problem in PA. I would say 1/3 of shipments that we mailed over a week ago still do not show any scans at all.
