UPC for generic product purchased wholesale

by Seller_gsq689DhV9vzN

Hi all, I’m very new to selling online so I appreciate your help!

I intend to order a generic item from a supplier based in the US. This supplier does not provide a UPC for the product which I am buying, so I will need to purchase my own UPC through GS1, correct? I will then attach the identifying bar code to the individual package (per item) which I receive from the manufacturer prior to sending to Amazon, correct?

Thank you.

You can provide the mfr the GS1 UPC barcode and they can apply it for you typically also. Since they are packing the item already, this will save you from having to open and relabel. Most MFRs will also print your UPC code on the packaging, but you are not clear if this would be applicable. If it is, you should definitely consider including the UPC code as part of your package design or labeling requirements from the mfr.
