Hi @Cat_Amazon_old , @May_Amazon_old, we have been waiting for many days now. We still did not hear anything back? This product has 2500 pcs that are dated from starting from Jan 2021. In one month these planners will not be sellable anymore because they have a time limit and we will lose all value of the stock. Its not fair that because of a technical error in the system our listings stay suppressed. It’s very clear its a technical error because it’s not seeing the changes we made and the other 3 asins with the same changes got immediately approved.

The 3 asins that before where approved now got blocked again.
Then we had 2 that got approved for the same changes but the other 3 who where in the same notice and had the same corrects done do not get approved. We keep getting a standard reply:
"Hello,

Thank you for submitting your plan of action. We reviewed your appeal and determined that the corrective action items you have listed have not been implemented. Please make sure all corrective actions have been completed and violating content has been removed to be in compliance with your plan of action."

Can anybody share with me why amazon performance does not communicate clearly and share in detail what we do still wrong and what we need to adjust? (we keep getting standard copy paste replies with no clarity)
With over 20 calls to amazon seller support, nobody can figure out what we are still doing wrong but still our appeals do not get approved.
How are we supposed to figure out what we do wrong if 20 trained amazon team does not know?
Would it not be much easier if amazon would give clear and specific reasons why products are taken down and what we need to change.

We have been spending 3 weeks of non stop reading rules, contacting amazon seller support and stressing out with no clear help. (4 people in the team)
If we do not get help in next week we can burn the 2000+ planners because they will not be sellible anymore (100000$ sell value)

It would save amazon and us so much time if we would get more clarity.
We want to comply with the rules but clarity is so important to do so.

How to know how many charactars to use for bullet points when all 3 guidelines say a different number:
The only catalog system says 500 max characters:

The style guideline for the specific category says:
256 characters

The Flat file template says max 100 Charactars:

All other sellers in the category have bullet points between 250 and 500 charactars
How more confusing can it be? Please @May_Amazon_old I hope you can give some clarity

Use the smallest amount.

If 100 is the smallest number, then use 100 as the limit.

Our product: B07X33YN71 was approved first after our first appeal. (see appeal below)
Then 5 days later without us making any changes it was blocked again, with no clear explanation. Then we write another long appeal as you can see below, we spend over 22 hours going every detail. Once the appeal is ready we send it out and within 6 min we got an automatic reply (clearly a bod) so nobody even really checked our message.
Please help we got over 2500pcs that we need to sell in 1 month else they will be outdated.

This is our first appeal:

  • What was the root cause that led to the issue?

To long bullet points over 256 characters, use of CAPITALS and + sign. Bold claims in bullet points, the word FREE in bullet point, duplicated asins, Icons in description, incorrect sizing

  • What actions will you take to resolve the issue?

  • We double checked all the category guidelines

  • We contacted amazon catalog support team to go over the title, bullet points, keywords and

    • We deleted all capital letters and use Capital Letters only for the
  • beginning of each word

    • We took out capitalize articles in the title
    • We took out the + signal in the title
    • Deleted heart symbol in the description
    • We deleted the word FREE in the bullet points
    • we deleted eco-friendly
    • We deleted excess duplicate ASINS
    • We deleted potential trademarks in keywords and title- Deleted heart symbol in the description- We deleted the word FREE in the bullet points- we took out FSC description In bullet points- we updated images- We deleted excess duplicate ASINS
  • We deleted: “and so much more than any other planner listed!” , 300% and other bold claims

Keep our team up to date of the new rules and ask them to always review them when they create a listing

About three days ago, Three of our most selling ASINS including B07X23PXRD B07X33YN71 B018JQ9Z3Y were blocked due to “ Listing Policy Violation” and “ASIN Policy(parent child relation). We took immediate steps to counter all of the issues on urgent basis. Here are the details on every step of both policies and the actions we took.

Details regarding issue And Action Taken:

Listing recreation while keeping the following general policies in mind:

Comply with any relevant style guides and refrain from using HTML, JavaScript, or other code: We removed everything that might be out of style guidelines and you can review that within the attached flat file, since we are unable to do any direct changes in listings

Exclude inappropriate content such as obscene or offensive materials, links or contact information, plot spoilers, reviews or requests for reviews, and advertising.
We already had that covered in our listings but for now we counter checked and make sure that we fulfill this requirement

Accurately categorize and describe your products.
We deeply researched our product and made sure that its listed in the right category which is “Planners”.

Refrain from creating duplicate pages for a product that already has a detail page.
We made sure that this ASIN and listing is created only once

Only create valid “variations” that relate to the primary product.
We deeply study the amazon “ ASIN policy ” and put this listing in undated version under B5 parent because it is an undated and color variant of that parent ASIN.

Adding child products that are not true variations of the parent product

We made sure that all the child ASIN are of similar kind and are true variation of parent ASIN.

Listing writing Policies:
Comply with the relevant style guide for the product you’re listing.
I checked everything mentioned in style guideline for our category and made sure that we fulfill that , you can counter check that in the attached flat file

Don’t use HTML, JavaScript, or other types of code in your product detail pages
No Html or other code is involved except<br> tag in description which is an exceptional case

None of the restricted keywords allowed in product detail page titles, descriptions, bullet points, or images:
I didn’t mentioned details of this policy here but over product has nothing to do with any restricted content or anything irrelevant or banned keywords, I double check those and then rewrite the content that you can check in the attached sheet

Product titles must not have more than 200 characters, including spaces
Out title is as per amazon guidelines and also our category’s guideline. Less than 200 characters. I am also attaching our category guideline at the end to verify everything for you guys.

Although we saw no issue with the existed parent child relations as per amazon policies, but to be on safe side we put all of these listings under a new parent with only color variation amongst them, each and every thing is same other than that, including content, number of pages, and methods explained inside the planners. We make sure that this time we don’t face any issue and you can see those changes inside the attached flat file. Although we are not able to make these changes live as the listings are restricted but the attached file is ready to go and we will update as soon we got the access or we request you guys to upload.
We have also cross checked the parent child relationship so everything must be upto the mark

Product titles, product descriptions, and bullet points must be clearly written and help customers understand the product
Each of these conditions are fulfilled by our content writer and we make sure that it also fulfill category limits.
Bullet Points To be more precise you can see the bullet points in the flat file we kept the limit of 250 character per bullet point although the allowed limit is way more than that. We also kept the content to the point and easy to understand

Most of competitors are crossing this limit of 250characters, Like B01EKSH5LE and B085S2G6Q5 B07WWFGDXS B085S2G6Q5 so I think the category still hold 500 character limit but I make sure that I keep that 250 for our listings.

The description is under the allowed characters limit and only<br> tags are used.

The Keywords : Now different backend keywords have different limit but the lowest of them is 100 character and we keep the keywords to be 99 so we shall not touch any boundary. Although there is only the space for search term in the flat file and I choose a full update option so incase previously added any other keywords causing error must be removed

Product images must meet Amazon image standards, as well as any category-specific image guidelines
We make sure that the images are as per amazon policies and fulfill all the requirements

Policies for adding detail pages

IP Rights violation:
We hold full IP rights to every IP related or brand name keyword that we use in content in general there is “Law of Attraction Planner” and “Freedom Mastery” . for both of these the Brand registry files are attached. (Law of attraction planner is under my personal name and Freedom Mastery is under the company name)

You must not use Add a Product, inventory files, and Amazon Marketplace Web Services (Amazon MWS) listing APIs for any purpose other than listing products on Amazon

We make sure of this inside every sentence of our content and listing

This is exactly we have done in the new flat file so there will be no issue of any kind to our customers as well as seller performance team to see changes clearly.

Reason and why that happened:
This parent listing was created back when we started selling, about 4 to 6 years ago , at that time the policies could be different. We successfully sold as the top sellers during this entire time (the past 6 years), because we have created this unique idea of helping people in planning and management of their life. Over the years the policies changed, and my team did not check regularly or misunderstood some of the rules, although we sold same thing under one listing there is only a color-size and date and undated difference but its created for the feasibility of client and to provide the client what he would except under one listing because that’s how it was since we started. Also all of the content is written to fulfill the terms and condition of amazon but to be on safe side we changed that and we separated all those under colorName variation and send them under a new parent after removing from old one, we had also make sure that all the amazon parent child relation policies are fulfilled and the product will be under right category and also everything amongst the ASINS must be same except the color.
We do understand that rules keep changing, so we took immediate action and separated everything after reviewing the policy

Action we took so this will not happen again.

To prevent this from happening in the future I have asked all my staff to follow the above practices to ensure we do not have this issue reoccur by studying amazon rules and regulations frequently.

We will use the ‘Check my File’ feature of the product upload to spot errors in our Flat-File uploads.

We have asked the team to pay attention to every attribute and make sure its correct.

We ask them to always ask the 4 questions to determine if it’s a true variation and to double check updated variation rules.

We have signed up for the SAS Core program and will start in February-March with a dedicated account manager so we can understand the rules even better and get amazon guidance on each of our listings

We are truly sorry for any misunderstanding of the rules and hope we have taken every step that is required and would love to fulfill anything that amazon want us to. We apologies for every mistake done unintentionally. If there is something that is still missing from our side , please specify that, so we can resolve the issue as soon as possible, this case has already caused more than $60000 sale loss from our account, and it is disastrous for our business so we feel the pain. Hi @May_Amazon, we have been waiting for 16days for somebody to contact us to give us more clarity. We did not get any help.
We have been selling with amazon for over 5 years and our account has always been in good standing. Its sad to see that a competitor can report our listing for any reason and take our product off during the highest season of the year for over 20 days. We fixed everything requested on the notifications and we get no extra clarity from amazon on what else to change and all the seller support teams can not find anything we doing still wrong. (The product expires soon and 125000$ of selling value will be waisted)

In the meantime we try everything:
1.Split up all products in different variations
2.We adjusted all detail pages called over 28 times to amazon, catalog team, account health team, seller support. They can not find any further violations but still all our appeals getting rejected or no reply for the following asins:

We are very happy to change everything amazon things we should change, I do not believe Jeff wants his amazon sellers to be treated like this.
Amazon is a wonderful company and it has been amazing for the last 5 years. We did not do anything different but suddenly this year we have all these challenges going on its non stop work to try to get clarity and fix suppressed listings. Everybody in the support is saying different things.
When I talk to other sellers most of them are also very frustrated and feel that amazon seller support is so much worse than last year’s.

I understand it must have been frustrating to have the issue ongoing. Based on this thread, I can see how important it is for you to address this issue and I want to give you credit for being on top of it.


According to this notification, it appears that the ASINs were blocked again due to variation issues.

Thank you for taking the ownership to modify the listings and submit the appeal. Other than the above three pointers, a friendly reminder is that, you must ensure that the listings are in lines with all variation relationship requirements.

Before submitting the appeal again, I would like to recommend for you to take a look at our variation relationships overview, and variation relationships for lighting and variation relationship FAQ help pages and conduct a cross-check once again to review your listings.

In addition, it is recommended to appeal with a plan of action (POA) that addresses the root cause, current solution, and future preventive measures. Keep in mind that your information must correspond to the current issue as this allows the appeals team to determine whether you fully identify the true causes that led to this issue as well as if your future implementations are able to prevent the same issue from recurring.

Root cause:
You will have to explain how the variation relationship was incorrectly created in order to show your understanding of the problem. Have you identified what were the gaps within your business practices that potentially led to the variation issue? Was it due to a lack of understanding of the our variation guidelines?

Current solution:

It is great to see that you have conducted the checks. To strength your appeal, I suggest you to explain the specific changes that you have made to correct the variation. Also, have you checked the rest of your inventory for any similar listings?

Preventive measures:
As the appeals team needs to ensure that your future business practices are able to prevent the same issue from happening again, it is very important to provide precise information including 5W1H (who, when, where, what, why, and how) elements to address the changes you will implement in the future.

Is there any workflow for your staffs to create listing variation in the future? How frequent you will review our variation policies, and how do you ensure you and your staffs stay up-to-date with Amazon’s policies?

Who will be in charge of uploading the future listings? Is there any step-by-step checking process prior to listing?

We are following your guidelines and they are really very helpful, I would like you to review our new appeal and plan of action and please guide us as it what you guys want or there is something else needed, I had also cross verified with the account health team on call, please review and tell me that if it’s ok so I can appeal

Our ASIN B07X23PXRD was blocked due to the “ASIN Creation Policy(parent-child relation)” violation as per amazon policies that Sellers on Amazon.com are not allowed to create product detail pages with invalid variations. We took immediate steps to counter all of the issues on an urgent basis.

Root Cause

Our team misunderstood the policies of parent-child ASIN creation in detail, so they put dated and undated in size attribute whereas it has nothing to do with sizes, we got the restrictions and we took immediate steps to resolve the issue

    -Although we have implemented this strategy on the entire account the blocked ASINS needed to be activated by the seller performance team in order to make any changes on the product page. We have updated all the parent-child relations for all with only COLORNAME variation theme. The blocked ASINS also have the number of total pages difference(everything else is the same) we have created a flat file for the ones having more ages and put them under a new parent, but in order to make those changes, we need to get the listings activated. I have uploaded and attached the new flat file.

Future preventive measures

I told my team to make sure we do not make the same mistake again and deeply read the policies before creating any new variation, and if confused contact the amazon support team or amazon seller performance team since you guys are really cooperative.
We use seller central university in order to get updated knowledge before making any new changes.

Now we have hired a Quality assurance manager in our team with 7 years of past experience, every listing will be reviewed by him before upload

we had also applied for account manager from amazon so he can cross-verify things before upload

We will keep our team up to date of the new amazon rules and ask them to always review them when they create a listing. We reviewed our current listings and correct anything necessary.
We also signed up with the SAS program to get a dedicated account holders that can help us always to understand amazon rules and guidelines better.

We have also deleted all the possible policy issues on an urgent basis

Final Thoughts
We are truly sorry for any misunderstanding of the rules and that it takes so long for us to find what we are doing wrong we hope we have taken every step that is required and would love to fulfill anything that amazon want us to. We apologies for every mistake done unintentionally. If there is something that is still missing from our side, please specify that, so we can resolve the issue as soon as possible, this case has already caused more than $86000 sale loss from our account, and it is disastrous for our business so we feel the pain.

It’s great to see that you have identified the issue, however you will need to deep dive into the causes. As you mentioned the team misunderstood the variation policies, was there any variation training provided to your staffs? Was there any review process on the product detail before the variation being created?

If possible, you may consider to provide any of your existing listing as an example to demonstrate the variation relationship after correction.

As I mentioned in the previous response, our appeals team needs to gain the confidence in your future business practices and ensure you are able to prevent the same issue from recurring.

Other than reaching out to the Amazon staffs, how do you ensure your staffs are fully familiar with variation policies going forward? Will you provide any training for your staff? How will you and your team keep up-to-date with the Amazon’s policies?

How will your quality assurance manager review every listing, what is the criteria of this procedure?

We followed all your advice but still our appeal got rejected. Can you please help us and give more clarity why its still being rejected. My SAS manager also does not see anything we are still doing wrong.

This is my appeal: (but was rejected for both B07X33YN71 and B07X23PXRD

Dear performance team, We hope you are doing good,

Our ASIN B07X23PXRD was blocked due to the “ASIN Creation Policy(parent-child relation)” violation as per amazon policies that Sellers on Amazon.com are not allowed to create product detail pages with invalid variations and duplicate child variations. We took immediate steps to counter all of the issues on an urgent basis.

Root Cause

Our team misunderstood the policies of parent-child ASIN creation in detail, so they put dated and undated in size attribute whereas it has nothing to do with sizes, also our color variations contain some irrelevant words and was using incorrect colors duplicates. They also misunderstood that we can not have duplicated child asins and they did not delete the old duplicated asins we did not use. So we got the restrictions and we took immediate steps to resolve the issue by removing irrelevant size section, remove duplicate asins and putting exact color names. We gave our staff detailed training but we apologize for human error and later on in “future preventative measures section” I explained in details that what steps we took in order to make sure that this won’t happen again.

Corrective Measurements

  • We deleted duplicated asins
  • We separate the variation and will make sure we do not use the attribute size for anything else than the size
  • We deleted all duplicated colors in the variation and added correct color names

Also we gave them full training this week via seller university and help section and we told them that any point if they are confused than contact their team Lead and a quality assurance manager (whom we recently hired having 5 years of experience and help us in fixing the issue) . We have also created an hierarchical system that i explained later ahead in details

So here are the detailed filtration process that we had created for our company.

First of all the flat file is generated and filled by VA’s, they will update the data and review it and send it to their team lead, once he review, the data shall be sent to QA manager and once he approved than we shall upload the data on amazon.

we have also applied for a SAS account manager from amazon so she can cross-verify things in case of any confusion, she started working with us today and told us that our listings and variations are all good now.

We will keep our team up to date of the new amazon rules using Amazon Seller University and forums. We reviewed our current listings and correct everything necessary. We revisited entire account in order to make sure that if there is any kind of errors in our other listings that also shall be removed on priority

As @May_Amazon has pointed out in her earlier response, was there any particular reason why this was not detected before your products were listed? Does your employees have the full authority to upload listings, or are there any pre-listings reviews?

This is also a good suggestion I would advise including in your appeal.

What are the criteria(s) of this review/filtration process? What would they be cross-checked against? Do list them down for greater clarity.

How do you plan to do so? For instance, are employees required to self-study, or will there be trainings conducted? What is the projected frequencies of such learning?

I suggest utilizing the 5W1H (who, what, where, when, why and how) model to further breakdown and elaborate specifically for on each point of your appeal.

Once revised, please proceed to submit your appeal via your account health dashboard (AHD). All the best.

And for asin B07JKPQB1Z there is no option to appeal. It was blocked on 20 january but its missing in the account health dashboard:

And when we contact seller support and brand support they say B07JKPQB1Z is still suppressed because of variation policy violation. But there is no option to appeal??

Hi @Sophie_Amazon , I thank you for your help and guidance. I have made all the changes as you recommended and the team on the account health line recommended. My SAS manager also guided me and she told this appeal is very comprehensive and she sees no reason why it should not be approved.
I have appealed and again the appeal was rejected. I have spent over 84+ hours on this together with my team and most of the stock we will not be able to sell anymore as they are seasonal products. Wish leads to a loss of over 90000USD in sales.
I believe because the listing is blocked and we can not make the changes they require us to do they think we did not make the changes and keep canceling our appeal.

I worked another few hours yesterday optimizing the appeal and adding the flat file and screenshot that it was rejected.

This was my appeal:

Root Cause
We understood that Our ASIN B07X23PXRD was blocked due to the “ASIN Creation Policy” ,“Amazon Listing Infringements Policy” Violations, and because of inaccurate information to product detail pages. My team made a mistake and added child products that are not true variations of the parent product, made changes to parent product detail page that does not match the child asins, and created duplicated child asins with invalid variation values. We took immediate steps to counter all of the issues on an urgent basis.

Why this happened?
This parent listing was created back when we started selling, about 4-5 years ago, at that time the policies could be different. We successfully sold as the top sellers during this entire time (the past 5 years), because we have created this unique idea of helping people in planning and management of their life. Over the years the policies changed, and we replaced the team managing my listings 3 times in last 1 year, I realize they did not check regularly or misunderstood the policies of parent-child ASIN creation in detail, so they put dated and undated in size attribute whereas it has nothing to do with sizes, also our color variations contain some irrelevant words and was using incorrect colors duplicates. They also misunderstood that we can not have duplicated child asins, old version of products together, they did not delete the old duplicated asins and versions we did not use. They also made errors on the detail pages, to long bullet points over 256 characters, use of CAPITALS and + sign. I realize that because of changing 3 times in staff that is managing the amazon listings I trusted to much in that they would know all to policies because of the many years experience they had and that was a mistake. I ended up working many hours to try to find the past errors they made.

We took immediate steps to resolve the issue by removing irrelevant size section, remove duplicate asins and putting exact color names and also inaccutate information on product detail page.
We gave our staff detailed training in the past but we notice it still was not sufficient, we apologize for the error. In the “future preventative measures section” I will explain in details what steps we took in order to make sure that this won’t happen again.

So here are the detailed filtration process that we had created for our company to make sure there are no more listing policy violations:

First of all the flat file is generated and filled by our stock manager using the flat file instructions for our product category, they will update the data and review it and send it to their team lead, once he review, We will use the ‘Check my File’ feature of the product upload to spot errors in our Flat-File uploads. the data shall be sent to QA manager and SAS Account manager and once he approved, we shall upload the data on amazon.
We have also applied for a SAS account manager from amazon to cross-verify things in case of any confusion, she started working with us today and told us that our listings and variations are all good now.
We will keep our team up to date of the new amazon rules using Amazon Seller University and forums. Each member of our team must go to a training to learn new amazon rules for first 2-4 weeks to have the updated knowledge and then monthly update on any new changes. We also signed up with the SAS program to get a dedicated account holders that can help us always to understand amazon rules and guidelines better.
We reviewed our current listings and correct everything necessary. We revisited entire account to make sure that if there is any kind of errors in our other listings that also shall be removed on priority
We also will make sure we followup on urgent policy issues on an urgent basis

Final Thoughts
We are truly sorry for any misunderstanding of the rules and that it takes so long for us to find what we are doing wrong we hope we have taken every step that is required and would love to fulfill anything that amazon want us to. I hope you will allow us to continue selling this product as we have a lot of inventory at FBA ready to be sold and if not sold during Q1 2021, we would hardly sell those during the rest of the year as they are dated planners for 2021 this would be disastrous for our business. Special request: We would love to ask if amazon performance team can consider creating specific help pages for our category (office products, planners) in terms of what should be done for detail pages / variations and it would be helpful to have one to use to educate our team.

I honestly think its very unprofessional that they not even give any clear communication why they still keeping it blocked. This is the 8+ appeal, we have followed all recommendations from all the posts in this forum and the account health support team.

The only thing it could be is that they do not see the changes because the listings are blocked. Will it help me to contact Jeff Bezos to resolve this issue? We 100% want to follow the rules and we have no intention to do anything wrong. We do realize that my team made some errors in the listings and we are very sorry about that.

I hope you have other ways to help us get this resolved.

I had the SAS Technical account manager look in to this and she told me that now we are following all rules and our listings would be reinstated. See below message:
