I’m looking for a little direction on a case I opened to recover lost units on a short shipment: 20 units sent, 10 received. I could include the full text of the Amazon responses, but really the crux of it is that Amazon is using a per-unit weight that appears inflated:
per unit weights
distributor: 5.0 oz
manufacturer: 5.2 oz (documented in PDF of specs)
Amazon listing unit weight: 5.1 oz
Amazon listing shipping weight: 8.8 oz
The weight communicated to me by Amazon in the case for the initial denial was 7.2 oz. I responded to that denial with information I had on the unit weight and was denied again, but this time the unit weight Amazon used was 8.8 oz. (their fulfillment weight!?)
Any suggestions for how to proceed are appreciated. The loss is definitely worth my time, as it’s at least a couple weeks of profit for me.
By the way, in my first response to Amazon I also documented 5 other shipments that were fully received and confirm my shipping calculations, but I suspect that Amazon is trained to ignore other shipments.
Since then I have reached out to my distributor to get official confirmation on unit and packing weights, all of which confirm my calculations. So I’m at a bit of a loss at this point.
