Shipment from Amazon warehouse to customer

#1

Hi all,

When Amazon warehouse is located in country A and customer is located in country B, is it the carrier who pays the import duties?
Then, is the customer or Amazon who reimburse the import duties to the carrier?

Thank you for your feedback,
Best regards.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know the mechanics of what happens, but I do know that when you are sending inventory to Amazon for FBA, you are paying them to worry about these things.

Whatever needs to be done, Amazon will handle it, and you don’t have to worry about it. In fact, I’ve only noticed that a book went international if I happen to look at reports and see a huge shipping charge (sometimes 3-4x the cost of the book).

As an example;

If a customer in Canada buys something on the US dot com site the customer in Canada pays the duty and fees.

If a customer in Canada buys something on the Canada Amazon site from a seller in the US listing on the Canada website, the seller must send the item DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to the customer.

This is a FBM example, I expect it is the same with FBA.
