How to get more reviews

We have sold quite a number of products on our Amazon seller central store and we're finding there's limited ways to ask customers for their review. We spoke with Amazon support, and they indicated that the system automatically asks buyers for their review, but unless they have opted into getting messages from Amazon, they will otherwise not receive such a prompter. You can contact the customer directly, but it's sort of not recommended by Amazon, as its kind of harassing the customer. So, what's the next best option?

We are a reputable American brand that works hard to earn high reviews on our entire catalog, and have never engaged in the tactics that our international competition does, such as buying and faking reviews.

Today I noticed that somehow at least 15 reviews ranging from 4 to 5 stars had been removed from our detail page with no explanation from Amazon. I suspect that the Chinese sellers we compete with have somehow sabotaged our listing, is this possible? Wouldn't Amazon send some sort of email or performance notification if they removed our reviews?

I recently uploaded new gallery images for my product. All of the images were successfully uploaded, except for one: an image containing snippets of customer reviews that I took directly from my Amazon reviews (but without citing the specific person who wrote the review/where the review was coming from). My question is: was this image taken down because we are not allowed to post gallery images including reviews OR was the issue that I did not cite my reviews? Please advise.
