San Francisco area going on lockdown...what about orders?

How do we deal with this? Wondering if this is the time to put the store on vacation.

As far as I know all carriers are still operating including USPS, FedEx, and UPS.
If you do not have the ability to take your packages to the various carriers then schedule a pickup at your location. (it may cost you $10 or so to do this but it may well be worth it)
If you cannot do any of the above then place your account to “Inactive” (vacation mode) so that you do not receive any orders that cannot be shipped.

No one knows. The details are not clear. Individuals must remain home, but I do not know about service company employees. Power, phone, and gas companies are still going to have to service accounts, so at least some service companies need to operate. Does that include Fedex and UPS and the USPS? Who knows. Taxi’s, Ubers and perhaps buses are going to have to operate at some level for emergency services. People like doctors, pharmacists, and nurses will still have to get around, as will grocery store employees.

I would wait and see and keep looking at local news and the City web site for information.

For Contra Costa, there is Exemption xvi. “Business that ship or deliver groceries, good, goods or services directly to residences;”
I think as long as the Post office is open (which I use), you should be ok. I think putting your shop on vacation has long term effects such as loss in rankings and search engines. Only put on vacation if you don’t have any other choice. (IMHO)

It will “shutter “non-essential” businesses, while allowing grocery stores, police and fire departments, pharmacies and some other businesses to stay open…Residents can still leave their homes, but will be required to distance themselves from others while outside, officials said.”

Mail will still be delivered and you could still go out to drop off deliveries.

I don’t know if this affects any fulfillment centers off hand, but if there are any in those counties would be they be required to close?

You can ship them and go to the post office. Lockdown means they don’t want large public gatherings, retail or restaurants open, everything should be closed and on lockdown except essential businesses grocery, banks, trucking and delivery companies, police ems etc. But pretty soon there might be martial law (not mashall) if this virus things gets out of countrol. So look out.
