Package delivered to a USPS parcel locker ....what do I tell buyer who is claiming INR?

Sold a book to a buyer in ROCKLIN, CA in early January … Buyer just sent me a email that he did NOT receive the book. Package delivered to a USPS parcel locker according to USPS tracking (What is that and why would it go there ?) I’ve heard of Amazon lockers but not USPS lockers…what do I tell buyer and how do I get the book in his hands ??

I assume you sent to a PO box and not to a residence?

We have these lockers at our post office. The post office scans the package as delivered and puts the key to the locker in the buyer’s PO box. When the key is used, and the package is removed, the key is stays on the locker door until it’s removed.

Tell the buyer, the key is in their PO box and to go retrieve the package.

I’m not aware of a Post office that would put a locker key into a private residence box.

A parcel locker is something that apartment buildings or townhouse developments have for items that are too big to fit in the person’s individual mail locker.

Tell the buyer it was delivered there and he should know how to obtain it. If he says it is not in there, you treat it like any other INR claim without a signature. That process will vary depending on if you bought shipping through Amazon.

person is probably just looking for FREE stuff. i am convinced that by now the word is out about Amazon and people can just ask for refunds on everything they buy and get their money back. just be happy it was a book and not high value item just in case you lose the A-Z if its filed

We have a similar situation. Customer leaves instructions with his post office to hold his mail. Our package arrives there and is available for pickup. Customer leaves a 1 start feedback claiming non-delivery, and Amazon refuses to remove it. Customer ignores our emails… I’m sure that if we refund customer will magically remember that his package is at the post office. :frowning:

Does anyone know if Amazon refunds its own orders when the buyer says that they didn’t receive the item but the shipper says it was delivered?

I have a parcel locker. And several times my mail carrier has put my package in somebody elses box. Luckily my neighbors are pretty honest and they just drop my stuff off at my house. It is a real thing that happens though.

Some local POs remove packages which are not picked up, and the key from the PO box without doing any additional scans. Often the do leave a notice in the box, but not always

If the buyer does not ask at the window, they may not know the package is there.

I had a bunch of these this past year. It seems some customers don’t know about the lockers. In each case we had our
Local post office give us the address to the lockers by looking up the gps coordinates. Every customer then found their boxes except for one customer who we had file
INR for amazon to fund. Initially I was going crazy from the where is my items emails. Some I think may have tried to scam their way too. Most never replied once given the address where their lockers were located.

Usually apartment complexes have those. If you sent to address on file you will be covered.

Had this happen once. Customer picked up their package the day after receiving a full refund.

Reported the buyer, Amazon didn’t care. They said it “arrived outside the delivery window”. Wow.
