I’m surprised that Amazon will try to create a new listing from an inventory-only upload, with only a SKU and inventory quantity.
How would Amazon decide which ASIN to attach the new SKU to?
If it actually creates new listings in my catalog at random, it’s almost certain that it will eventually cause a conflict with a hazmat, gated brand, or something unpleasant.
*** Is anyone certain that is what will happen in my inventory update scenario?**
The reason I’m not just deleting the SKUs I’m not selling on Amazon from the inventory file is because I’ll have to develop a much more extensive process to update inventory. Instead of simply uploading the file, I’ll have to do this…
- I’ll have to get the updated warehouse inventory file.
- Download my full Amazon product catalog.
- Compare the two.
- Edit the warehouse file, such that it deletes SKUs that don’t have a match.
- Upload the resulting/edited inventory file.
Automating this seems troublesome. Certainly do-able, but much more complex.
