Read onlyAs a well timed Happy Holidays from Amazon, the introduction of Color “Normalization” has begun in the Clothing Category.
This is a process where an Amazon Bot changes the color name of products, or merges multiple color variations into a single variation.
This is being done at a level that Brand Owners, Seller Support, Amazon Brand Registry Support or the Catalog Team do not currently have the authority to fix.
We now have listings that Amazon changed the color name to something different than what the product is. So if a customer bases their order on the color name instead of the images, it will be different than the name.
We also have listings that Amazon merged 2 to 3 completely different colors into one. Since only images from one color show on the detail page, orders of the other color variations will not match the images.
If you sell in the Clothing Category, keep an eye on your listings and watch for changes.
If you do not sell clothing, may Amazon’s “Normalization” never come to a category near you.
Hi @sfseller100
Can you shoot me over your most recent Seller Support case on this issue? I'd love to dig deeper into this and see if we can get you some further answers here.

December 1, 2022
From December 8, 2022, new and existing product listings for certain product types must include color name, product description, and department name attributes. Since our previous announcement, size name has been removed as a mandatory attribute, and two product types have been added
Attributes will change from optional to required for the following product types.
All new listings for affected product types will require a valid attribute value, or the product will not be added to the catalog.
Your active listings will not be affected. To publish your inactive listings, go to Manage inventory to update your attributes now.
