Coming Soon: Did Someone say Apparel and Shoes?

Yes! The rumors are true, we will soon be launching apparel and shoes. Be sure to get your products ready and keep an eye out for our upcoming launch announcement.

Prime Day: Get your Products in FBA Before it’s too Late!

The cut off date for getting your products into our Fulfillment Centers for FBA by Prime Day is +June 15th+. Which means if you’d like to have Prime eligible inventory for Prime Day, you only have a few short weeks to send in your products!

Tips & Tricks: Update your Product Images!

We’ve noticed a lot of of Artisans are still using images of products that showcase outdated images. For example, if you create personalized wedding signs, showing product images with “Zach and Jessica 2013”, might not appeal to customers.

Customers typically picture themselves using your products and often that means images of products containing the current year (2017) will get you the best results.

Here’s a [good example|https://www.amazon.com/Custom-Personalized-Canvas-Silhouetted-PERSONALIZED/dp/B01HVRH7JG/ref=sr_1_75?s=handmade&ie=UTF8&qid=1495658686&sr=1-75] of images reflecting dates from this year.

The Holidays are rapidly approaching and here at Amazon we are already getting ready for this important sales season. Below we’ve put together some tips to get the most out of the Holiday shopping season on Amazon:

Product Images: Make sure your product images follow the guidelines in our Style Guide and feature your product on a non-distracting background that is free of watermarks and text.

As a reminder, account shipping settings were recently updated. The new Shipping Settings gives you more control in defining shipping options for your inventory by allowing you to define domestic, international, and regional shipping settings with estimated transit times. Handmade at Amazon Title Length Update

Across Amazon, different categories have chosen to set a maximum character limit for their product titles within their own categories. Some have chosen to have 50 characters (i.e. Baby and Sporting Goods), other categories have chosen an 80 character limit (i.e. Clothing and Accessories), Jewelry has set their limit at 100 characters while Home has allowed for up to 200 characters. For Handmade, we had originally decided on 50 characters but after listening to feedback from our Artisans, we have decided to increase the character limit to 100 characters. We will be updating this information on Seller Central.

The goal of our title policy is to provide Customers with the best experience while shopping on Handmade. Your product title is the first thing that a Customer sees when they visit your product page. The customer should be able to make a purchase decision based on information in the product title alone. You can add keywords later that will help your product appear in search, so you don’t need to add them to your product title.

Keyword Help with Sponsored Products

We know that it can be difficult to identify which keywords are best for your products. Using Sponsored Products can help you identify keywords in addition to increasing traffic to your products. If you’re not sure which keywords to choose, start off with automatic targeting and let Amazon use its knowledge of customer search and shopping behavior to display your ads based on your product information. After the campaigns have been running, you can look at the Search Term report to see which search terms are generating impressions and clicks for your ads, and identify search terms to add as keywords. All new advertisers are eligible for a $50 click credit to get started.

Policy Reminder: Diverting

Sellers on Amazon.com are not allowed to direct buyers to another website or sales process. Any attempt to circumvent the established Amazon sales process or to divert Amazon users to another website or sales process is prohibited. Specifically, any advertisements, marketing messages (special offers) or “calls to action” that lead, prompt, or encourage Amazon users to leave the Amazon website are prohibited. Prohibited activities include the following:

• The use of email intended to divert customers away from the Amazon sales process.
• The inclusion of hyperlinks, URLs or web addresses within any seller generated confirmation email messages or any product/listing description fields that are intended to divert customers away from the Amazon sales process.
• The inclusion of hyperlinks, URLs or web addresses on printed materials that divert customers away from the Amazon sales process. If you include a business card or any print material with your packaging, you will need to update your materials to include your Amazon Artisan Profile URL to drive more customers to your storefront.

Bonus: Get Your Instagram Images Featured

The Handmade editors are looking to feature your products and images. To submit you images for consideration, add the hashtag #HandmadeAtAmazon to your Instagram posts. If your image fits with one of our posts or stories we will reply with simple instructions on how to agree to our Content Usage Terms. When creating the posts keep these tips in mind:

• Feature products available in your Handmade store
• Curate an engaging visual story
• Upload a photo with a width of at least 1080 pixels with an aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 4:5

• Make sure your titles are short (no more than 50 characters) and represent only the main products, not specific customizations or options.

• Aim for high customer reviews by providing important details for customers on your product page and exceeding seller performance standards.

Get Ready for the Mother’s Day Shopping Season

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and our editors are looking for items to feature. To ensure your products stand out during this busy season, we’ve put together some tips.

• Main Image: The main image should clearly show the product, without props or distractions. Use a neutral background that doesn’t detract from the product and don’t include watermarks.
• Product Description: Give customers an overview of the key features of your product. Use this space to talk about the details of your product and what makes it unique.
• Production Time: Review your production time to ensure customers will receive their Mother’s Day gifts in time. Did you know that using FBA can extend your shopping season by offering customers free expedited shipping? Review the [FBA Revenue Calculator|http://pages.amazonservices.com/j0aR0U3OG000000PWoi0r00] to find out the cost for your items.

Search and Style Keywords

We’ve heard from Artisans that selecting keywords can be confusing and the difference between search and style keywords is unclear. Style keywords and search terms are treated in a similar fashion by our system. They are set up separately to help artisans organize their keywords. Search and style keywords are used to help match customer searches with relevant products. But remember, the most important factor in how your products are displayed in search results is customer behavior.

• No commas are required in your keywords. Our system ignores most punctuation and keywords can be listed with only a single space in between them. If you have commas in your keywords, no need to remove them, as they will not be taken into account.
• For both Style and Search term boxes, the words entered should be 100% applicable to your product. Keywords should include attributes of the product, and different ways of describing the product. Some good example keywords would be those regarding materials, categories, and alternate ways of describing the product.
• Though you are free to input multiple keywords per box, it is best to focus on quality over quantity. There can be negative effects should you input too many non-relevant keywords.

+Keywords should not include+

• Information that is already present in other fields such as the title
• Subjective claims about the quality of the item (e.g. “best”)
• Statements that are only temporarily true (“new,” “on sale,” “available now”)
• Information that is true of most or all items in the category (“ring”)
• Common misspellings of the product name
• Variants of spacing, punctuation, capitalization, and pluralization

FEBRUARY

Hello from Handmade at Amazon!

Thank you for being a part of Handmade at Amazon!

With your help Handmade at Amazon was able to grow to more than 300,000 products from thousands of sellers across six categories. Customer traffic to Handmade has increased more than 30% month-over-month, and sales on the platform have grown more than 150% month-over-month.

Take advantage of Amazon’s unique benefits to grow your business. Here’s a look at a few key items to keep in mind this month.

Increase your Reach with FBA

Consider using FBA for your non-customized items to help grow your business on Amazon. Over 95% of artisans who are leveraging Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) have had a sale since launch.

Fulfillment by Amazon has no minimum number of items required to use it. The products that you ship through FBA are available to customers through Amazon Prime, which offers free expedited shipping. Amazon Prime customers prefer to purchase products available through Prime whenever possible, which makes FBA a great way to increase your sales. Prime customers usually purchase more frequently than non-Prime customers, spend more per purchase, and typically purchase multiple items at a time.

Review the [FBA Revenue Calculator|http://pages.amazonservices.com/CR000u02O06G0Po0300PW00] to find out the cost for your items.

Increase Your Traffic with Sponsored Products and Amazon Associates

Visit [Seller Central|http://pages.amazonservices.com/n0G003v030PO0WR00P00o60] and click Advertising to get started.

+Join our Associates program+
