Do FBA sellers get priority?

I’m fairly new to selling on Amazon, I have had some experience on Ebay and wanted to expand on my business online as well. At first I was listing under other sellers who had the ad but than Amazon asked me to make a feed file and I’ve been uploading my feeds and am advertising the correct way but on some of the ads the FBA sellers are always the first pick for any consumer unless the purchaser scrolls down to ‘Buy New and Used for’ which is in size 2 font where my listing can be viewed as well. What are the benefits to listing and selling via FBA as opposed to doing it yourself. Will it save money or is it just for convenience? I do know Amazon takes responsibility for shipping and customer service but what about returns? I primarily sell pillows, mattresses and mattress protectors. Any kind of insight and/or suggestion would be useful. Thank you

The good thing about selling your items FBA is that you give Amazon the responsibility of keeping track of your inventory, shipping, customer service, returns and refunds anyway they want to do it.

The bad thing about selling your items FBA is that you give Amazon the responsibility of keeping track of your inventory, shipping, customer service, returns and refunds anyway they want to do it.

FBA has a very generous return policy and they may refund things you disagree with but you gave them that responsibility. For everything mentioned above, you get the pleasure of paying higher selling fees plus storage fees and long term storage fees, you will most likely have to price your FBA items higher to cover the extra fees you will be charged. When you do convert your items to FBA, You will probably notice more sales.

There is a plus in doing FBA because for the most part costumers that buy on Amazon.com Are prime members and Amazon Offers them free 2 Day shipping on any order larger then 35.00 to which the costumer pays a yearly fee of 99.99.
So when you do FBA it costs you a little more for pick and pack fees but as a FBA seller you are always first on Buyers Box (unless there are other FBA Sellers in which in that case you rotate for the Buyer Box) Becuase you are offering the costumer the free Prime shipping which comes when you do FBA (the yearly cost to the consumer that Amazon charges is a big part of where they generate alot of income)

Also to answer your question about returns yes for the most part Amazon handles mosr returns.

You are probably thinking about what is called the Buy Box. Whoever has the Buy Box will usually have greater sales for that item. There are many things that determines who gets the Buy Box. Some of those things have a higher priority than other things.

If you go into the help section and type Buy Box into the search box and click on Search Seller Help, you can see some of the criteria it takes to win the Buy Box.

If Amazon is selling the item, it is almost impossible to take the Buy Box away from Amazon. If Amazon is not selling the item, other sellers Items that are FBA will almost always have the Buy Box before non FBA items.

Many established sellers will recommend you sell your items FBM and get the hang of how Amazon works and what they expects of us before you dive into FBA.

I never did FBM and started with Amazon FBA on 3/11/14. I’ve run out of accolades for Amazon FBA!

Amazon Prime members are “crazed” about using their Prime membership which offers “free” shipping on FBA items. My UPS driver says her husband says “If it’s not on Amazon Prime…then I don’t need it”.

Amazon searchers can click to show them only Amazon Prime items, so in this sense yes FBA sellers get priority.

There’s very little downside for you to try FBA - start with a few items and minimal inventory

I’ve quickly adopted a laissez-faire attitude with Amazon. It would take an accountant every day to verify and double check everything with Amazon. So I don’t.
