Amazon has now identified all anime as kiddie porn

Lol… and those racy stickers are Amazon’s recommended Choice how funny… are they pulling books with sexual covers or overtones and DVDs, sex toys, etc… I don’t think Amazon is promoting it but I see nothing wrong with them selling it… and don’t think they should be pulling it or taking down the pages… if kids are looking for this on Amazon they can easily find it anywhere else on Google …while I myself and not into anime it’s a lot of people are and some of it is pretty clean for the most part like Studio Ghibli movies from Disney which my son likes… however customers probably most believe what’s on Amazon was put there by Amazon and understand them wanting to have a “clean” reputation …I guess.

I’ve heard reports that it was “legal,” as in there were no laws against it at one point in time, but the government quickly made it illegal once the public found out about them. That said, I haven’t seen any verified reports that they existed and have only seen things of people talking about them.

It’s not necessarily the government, but rather Amazon reacting to a possible opinion – rendered by customer, or some bad feedback… this is a part of the culture that is not necessarily in American culture, but yet a Japanese culture, anyone that is familiar with the rest of the world realizes that different cultures treat – different things much differently than Americans… if you look at a lot of European advertising and television, and even in sometimes print --it is much more graphic, sexuality throughout the rest of world & treated much differently…

American sometimes have a very interesting Puritan Outlook —about some of these things, & we have all kinds of interesting religious & puritanical, political, issues about sexuality in general…

Maybe societal Norms are different, here & than – maybe in the rest of the world…

Oh, I’m just talking about the vending machines thing.

Due to the financial strength (especially regarding political donations) of the manga industry in Japan, child porn laws are exempt for that industry.

Amazon Japan allows much more than Amazon U.S., but they still block sexually suggestive videos of children (which are legal in Japan as long as they don’t include explicit acts or nudity). There’s no doubt that Amazon’s actions change depending on the local culture and go beyond what’s required by laws.

The vending machine thing I think I read about in coin Locker babies, or another fictional book… so I have no firsthand knowledge, I’ve also heard that certain cultures have particularly interesting issues with feet & what they do with them… I think I was in the San Gabriel Valley, with someone - I think was Chinese, I was pointing out signs & asking him to read them to me & what were they were?? And there was something about the feet & he wouldn’t tell me about that, thought it was just too nasty… I think we went out there to buy stuff for stir fry, at one of the huge Asian markets…

Although your comment about the politics involved, is interesting … But then there’s probably a lot of that goes on in every governmental type of scenario, with lobbyists, influencers…
