Amazon has now identified all anime as kiddie porn

#1

I’m rather disgusted with Amazon at the moment. I had a listing removed because “someone” determined that an anime figure was kiddie porn. Yes, the character was a pre-teen. No, it was not nude or suggestive. Amazon’s answer is as follows:

"We have reviewed your listing for ASIN B01ACYT3EM and have determined that the ASIN will not be reinstated.

This item has been identified as an offensive product and is not eligible for reinstatement. This is an anime product. Anime is considered children and we do not allow anime that shows children in nude, semi-nude or sexually suggestive positions. Hence, reinstatement denied."
Following Amazon’s logic, ALL anime products must be removed immediately.

I would never sell anything that was kiddie porn. In fact, I am appalled that Amazon would accuse me of doing such a thing. I’m just so disgusted with this answer and their view.

“Offensive” is not the same as “kiddie porn”. This figurine is likely borderline at best in terms of “sexually suggestive” for the purposes of vetting children’s items.

That said, @waape, you didn’t do anything wrong. You offered a product that used to be allowed but isn’t anymore. Amazon changes their minds about ASINs all the time. :woman_shrugging:

This item is still available for sale online elsewhere.

I was curious, I do have some anime listed… couldn’t find the book version, but all the figurines were dog pages… even on the bay, and GameStop – did not have it also…

The curvature and the look of the figures – looked at didn’t look any worse than what a Barbie looks like…

Is there a possibility that the Creator / artist --somehow has run amuck && gotten all the stuff pulled… done a shocken ???

Oh well…

Amazon still offers High School DXD…hmm

TV Parental Guideline Rating: TV-MA

A Funko Vinyl Figure was also recently flagged as inappropriate due to it depicting a child in sexual suggestive positions and it’s of a 50 year old woman holding a log (for a fire) from a popular television series. The errors abound and it’s just a part of selling here. Random items get flagged for unknown reasons and unless you want to spend hours trying to get them reinstated you have to just sell them elsewhere.

Still listed on the UK site which is where I got the picture. You be the judge. It’s suggestive of there being nothing on underneath, if you know what I mean, so if that’s meant to be a preteen or non adult teen then I can understand why it’s been pulled.

Not necessarily being connoisseur, but I don’t really think anybody these days necessarily-- just wearing granny panties, Maybe something high-cut maybe – sssthong…

Anybody with any first-hand experience, maybe on hands, familiar with the genre ?

Of course this comes from a country that may offer those in delicate items in vending machines… in “used as new condition”… Japan?

Anime is theoretically a characteristic - ized, rendering… not necessarily true to life…

Someone pasted the picture of the item in question in this thread. Personally do not think it is “offensive” as Amazon stated.

Anime is usually targeted for adult audiences. Many Amazon anime catalog images already reveal young girls with underwear showing, but this image that waape refers to does not look offensive at all.

Ironically, Amazon has a lot of catalogue porn titles, most of which blanks out penetration.
However, some do not such as ASIN B07D49SJWG. Any child or “sensitive” customer may chance upon these Amazon listings.

Not going to research the item, but I’m aware that within Japan there is a “different approach” to this specific issue. I’ll leave my comments at that, but having seen the image someone posted it’s obvious why it’s been taken down from a US website.

#13

This is Amazon’s interpretation. Our personal opinions are irrelevant (but again, I agree, based on @AsinineWisdom’s impression).

#14

Not being an Anime fan and only looking at it from the outside it has always appeared to me that the core characters of Anime are by in large overly sexualized 12-15 year old girls. Never understood how and why that was OK. I just assumed it was a “Japanese” thing. Look but don’t touch or some such nonsence. Seams weird and inappropriate to me. You be the judge.

Good gracious. I’m no prude but it’s hard to NOT call that suggestive.

Toys for children and kids? Yikes.

From the description -
Product age: 13 years or older
Product use: personal preferences collection (I wonder what that means ), gifts, beautiful desktop animation accessories
Applicable scene: can be used as decorative lights in the bedroom, children’s room, living room, bar, shop, cafe, restaurant, etc.
Wonderful Present: Christmas, Birthday, New Years Gift

  • Hand-made, environmentally friendly, will not cause any harm to the human body (good to know! ),is a very worthy model anime decoration collection.
  • The face of this toy figurine is vivid and charming, with a vivid look, elegant gentleman and high-end atmosphere, has an incredible pose statue with aglow inspiration and stimulating imagination.

Who the heck are they kidding? :woman_facepalming:

The ASIN you quoted is still available to buy on other Amazon sites… Although Amazon policies usually start out on .com before they are enforced on other sites (like .co.uk)

Once Amazon have decided… you will find it impossible to contest… they are king of their own platform

I had a picture removed on Pinterest of an American Girl doll wearing a hand crocheted bikini that covered up all the doll’s ‘bits’. So it isn’t just here and I also think that last photo was very suggestive.

#19

yes agreed. I think that @GemGuy should remove it, before it is removed/flagged

He just linked to the Amazon listing, but his post is ‘hidden’ now so you have to click to see the picture.

Amazon could always introduce a new Category (not linked in anyway to Toys and Games) for this type of product

#22

They certainly could …but IMO because these characters are all under-age themselves, even marketing to adults is questionable.

#23

yes, fair point…
