In our effort to make sure that anyone who uses PA-API for their Amazon seller account is aware that it is shutting down on August 31st, I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread on this forum.

If you are a developer who provides services to Amazon sellers, you need to migrate over to the MWS Products API before August 31st. The sellers who are using your service need to register for MWS so they can continue to use your product with MWS.

If you are a seller who is using a 3rd-party tool and you're not sure whether your provider has migrated from PA-API to MWS, you need to make certain before the end of this month.

Many 3rd-party solution providers use PA-API for their repricing software. If they don't move away from it and use the MWS Products API before August 31st, their software will not continue to work.

I'll try to respond to questions in this thread, but if you're not sure, please feel free to contact the MWS support engineers who can help you. There is a contact link on all the MWS Portals. Here are the links:

• FR: http://developer.amazonservices.fr

Hope that helps,
Sharon

Update: In preparation for deprecating the seller version of PA-API, some users may notice that they are being throttled to the point that they cannot continue using it. The throttling will produce a blacklisting error. This is happening to users who have not complied with the repeated attempts to contact them and ask them to identify the seller accounts they are using the PA-API data for. Many users have AWS accounts that do not directly map to seller accounts; these are the accounts that are affected. Only valid Amazon sellers may continue to use PA-API until the end of August.

If you have a valid, unblocked, Amazon paid subscription seller account that has active offers and recent sales, and the AWS key that you're using for PA-API is not tied to this seller account, and you did not comply with the request back in May to contact us and allow us to make the connection between the two accounts, you will likely be blocked in the coming days. This is an attempt to persuade you to contact us and acknowledge that you are aware of the upcoming final shut down of PA-API for sellers on 8/31/2012.

If you are an Amazon Associate, you should be using the Associate version of PA-API, which is not shutting down. For information, go here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/advertising/api/detail/main.html

If you are experiencing problems, or if you're not sure whether you will be impacted, please contact us. If you have valid Amazon seller usage, let us know; we will restore your access for the remainder of August. Here are the MWS portals for the affected regions. Just click on the contact link on the left-hand navigation pane, sign in with your valid seller account, and tell us your AWS key that you're using to access PA-API. We will reply within one business day.

All sellers must move from PA-API to the MWS Products API before 8/31/2012 as PA-API for sellers is shutting down.
Thank you,
Sharon

I would hope any and all affected vendors would post something and/or proactively reach out to their customers.

I'm still waiting to hear from mine. The only thing I've been told is that many of the features will be going away. Sad face.

I sent this thread to the people at mediascouter (my provider) and they responded that they have been aware of the issue for some time now and this will not affect their service.
