I recently got my first Return Authorization Request. It says my options are:
If I authorize the customer’s request, do they return it at their expense and I issue a refund only when/if I get it back, or does it get refunded upon my authorization return?
What happens if I close the request? The reason for the request is “I ordered it by mistake”. Obviously the buyer’s error, so can I just close the request?
If I were to contact the buyer, what should I say to them?
I’m usually an FBA seller, but I’m temporarily selling FBM until I can ship to Amazon again.
Thanks for any light you can shed.
Refunds do not happen by accepting a return request.
You refund and deduct restocking fees (if you wish) once the item has been returned.
I say if you wish because buyers don’t like that and can leave you negative feedback.
A buyer can return anything within 30 days, if you deny the request within that time frame, you open yourself up to an a-to-z claim. If the buyer wins then they keep your item and get their money back. It will also hurt your metrics.
And amazon sides with the buyer 99% of the time.
